My dad was talking to our body shop guy today which has a drag car Chevy lol and he said sounds like my knocking problem might be my oil pump beings I changed the lifters and still have the problem so my questions are

1. where is the pump? is it in the oil pan?
2. is there any way to check it without tearing the car apart?
3. I seen some threads about the pump shaft how do i check that?
4. how hard is it to change the pump, shaft or both
5. what kind should i get if the pump is bad

Oil Pressure Check

Go to the local autoparts store and get a mechanical oil pressure guage and hook it up at your oil pressure port, just above and to the front of your oil filter, there will be a single wire with a plug on it. Remove the plug and screw the transmitter out of the port, then hook up the mechanical guage line to the port with propper brass fittings and then hook up the guage to the line, crank it up get an oil pressure reading after the engine is warm. Check with a manual for your stock oil pump pressure or your local Ford dealer.

i dont think knocking is your oil pump...

i mean its either you got oil or not...

if you DONT then knock knock knockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

but yea go get an oil pressure guage, preferably something you would want to keep on your pillar forever and plug it in the port.
