oil pump shaft

Which way does the clip on the FRPP oil pump drive shaft go on? If you picture the clip to be like a cup, and consider that the engine is in the car, would the cup face up towards the distro and be able to be filled up and hold fluid? Or does it face down (towards the pump), not able to hold fluid (like an upside down cup)?

I've searched all over for this, but haven't found anything. :(

The "cup" goes down....this way it wont fall out if the oil pump is removed...i remember mine fell out doing my motor, it did so because i flipped it, crank up on the stand...

i believe it has to be feed in from the dizzy hole, "cup down"
 
check out my sketch. Is this how the clip goes then?!?!

that's there only to hold the shaft in if you remove the distributor and turn the engine upside down. You can keep it off, just have to be carefull when you remove the distributor, and if you ever break or twist it, it'll be easy to replace without having to pull the pan
