I have a 99 gt and no owners manual; how many quarts does it hold? I've called 5 different places, including FORD, and I have heard anywhere from 5 to 7 quarts. A local oil change place (American Lube Fast) said 6, and 7 if it had the towing package----- what the hell!!! A towing pakage on a mustang???? Please, someone with a owners manual give me a sane answer.

Once everything is drained and the new filter and drain plug are back in, just put in 5 qt's then start it up. Let ir run for about 30 seconds, shut it off and let it sit for a minute or so, then check the level. Add if it needs it and you'll know how much yours takes.

My '02 takes 5.5

Well the manual says to put in 5 but it all depends on what your engine says. My car is quite happy with 4 1/2 quarts. Just make sure you dont over fill your engine with oil. Thats a sure fire way to turn your engine into a pre-mature oil burrner!

5 here. when i was working at ford, most of the 99-00 GTs took 5 quarts. With the 01+ GTs, we added 6.25 quarts and started the motor, then turned it off and checked the level. If needed, we added more

I agree with what he said.

When filling it up, be sure to put some oil in the oil filter as well. Fill it with as much as you can fit in it of the initial 5qts of oil. Once you start the car up and run it and then shut it down, add more if it needs it. Make sure you fill it up close to the max just to be on the safe side. Mine only takes 5qts and its completely full.
