Oil Separator How-To?

Anyone know of a How-To on installing an Oil Separator? I looked in the HOW-To Section and couldn't find anything on it. I think it is pretty simple but I would like more details...Thanks.

Do you already have the parts? You'll need a seperator, several feet of hose, some band clamps or zip ties, and some sort of bracket unless you don't want it hanging. Simply take off your PCV hose (the big one coming from the lower plenum to the upper intake) and slip that on the inlet side of the seperator. Now take your new hose and run it from the outlet side of the seperator into the upper intake port (on the driver side underneath of the upper intake). That's all there is to it. You can use band clamps or zip ties on the hose to make sure it stays on the seperator. I just ziptied mine to anpother big vacuum line on the firewall.

you can pick up an air/oil seperator at home depot for $10, its with all the other air tools. youll also need the fittings that screw into it and allow the vaccume hose to connect to it. those are usually right above the seperators (about $2.50 for both)

your also gonna need some vaccume hose (i forget what size it is, maybe someone else will chime in)

i would also replace the PCV valve while your at it

Thanks...I am gonna go do this tomorrow...I am changing my pcv valve, serpentine belt, i also have a leak in a hose coming off my water pump, so replacing that too. If someone knows the size of the vacuum hose that would be great, I saw Steeda had an Oil Separator for sale but $10 bucks at home depot is lots better. Anything else I should do to make the car run better?

just went out to the garage and checked the packagethe hose came in, its 11/32"

FWIW, I used 3/8" hydraulic line on my separator. Tight fit on all fittings.....

The store I went to didn't have vacuum hose that big, so I used fuel 3/8" fuel line.

Good choice - that is what most folks use. The hydraulic line is for PS, etc. It is very rigid (I did not want it to collapse), but it is overkill. I will use Fuel/EVAP line next time.

I just got it from my brother sunday. It's a blast to ride, and it's great for learning on since it's a small bike. I'm having tons of fun with it.

I've had mine on for about a week...it is absolutely AMAZING how much oil it catches.
