Ever pull your upper intake and find oil all around your intake ports??? Your motors built some so I would thing you have it...most do....
I put on a intake spacer last Fall....they come like a Tan color...Mines Black now cause its soaked with oil getting pushed up...I knew it was doing it for years...Been bugging me since I noticed it...every time i pull the upper, oil in the ports... :damnit:
When I first removed the stock upper, I had no oil to speak of...alot of Black crud, no oil...Once I ported the lower....everytime I pulled the upper the ports were super clean...but oil was all around, and in em....I swapped on an Explorer, same deal, then the 93 Cobra, same deal again....I read up on these on Corner Carvers forum, lotta them use em....I just wanted to cure it more than anything...I gotta admit thought, my gas milage is up some since I added it..

Ahh, I see. Makes sense. yeah, I know exactly what you are talking about. Sounds like a good idea.

I am also going to yank the rubber hose off of my oil full tube. I don't like oil getting into my CC just as much as you do. Scraping carbon off of my pistons for hours really made me aware of it.

Nice Andy,

you think that the oil is causing poor mileage in some cases, mine has never gotten good or even close to good mileage...

I have my chip at JMS right now being reburned, with a switch chip setup, i had them add a gas tune as one of the four.

They said they would pull timing, etc. make it a dog basically....... but it would get good mileage...

when someone wants to play, flip the switch ..... We'll see, but it better work for what they charge..

Scott, make sure you have some way to allow air back into the motor (PCV is bi-directional and that hose makes up for the PCV valve being a one-way valve). If you remove that Oil filler hose, there will be some serious vaccum inside the motor - it will try to suck through seals instead.

Along the lines of what Hissin said...When I did this upper I re-hooked up an oil fill hose....prior to that I hadn't run one for 2yrs...This time I vented from my VC breather cap and connected a tube like a stock set-up would do to the CAI, just upwind of the IAT sensor...Since then I have removed the CAI a few times and never seen a lick of oil or crud...Was kinda suprised as I was expecting something...It was super clean...Knowing I was woofing oil from the PVC I figured the Breather vents gotta be dumping oil into the CAI....My point being I don't think the oil fill hose is a contributor when it comes to oil long as you have baffles in em???..I would leave that hose be...

Thanks for the props...Don't have a web yet...I had some pics in the Garage section but they took a dump during the crash...

Going by your sig I'm not sure you'd see benefits from this mod...When you do an intake I think it would be worth it though...that seems to be when the problem starts..

Well me thinks you need to get some pics up of that beast, from the few pics I've seen, it's a great looking car

I'd also wait to do the seperator until after I do my 306.

You couldnt do it directly because of the vacuum involved i dont think. Im pretty sure you can take the cannister off once it gets close to being full and empty it back into the motor or just add some new oil of the same amount.

Yes, one can vent the cannister to the 'sump' (via valve covers, etc). I dont know why anyone would though.

I don't feel there is a combo that dictates when one needs, or should do a catch-can. Many older foxes (with slightly looser-fitting forged slugs) run catchcans. Many older hypereutectic cars do the same too (low tension rings again). If a motor has any amount of blowby, it cant hurt to run a separator. Plenty of bone stock motors need one, in lieu of a rebuild.
One does not need a certain amount of power, etc. In fact, if people are needing a catch can once a motor is rebuilt, then THAT is where I would see an issue. Blowby comes from lack of ring seal.

No brace...I bought a 95 Cobra to try and that hit wouldn't clear my CAI or some chit...I would have to cannabilize the stock and a Cobra or another....The brace covered alot of the upper to...I did to much damn work painting the upper to hide it behind the brace..so I said....lose it.
