oil smell question

Hey guys,

So i was on my way to work this AM, at 7:30 am CT, and i smelt the faint sign of oil buring, well i looked at all my gauges and noted everything was fine, i pulled the stang over to check things out, oil is right were its supposed to be valve covers are dry and there is nothing leaking. Also it didnt seem to last very long and it was comming from the front of the car, but there was no smoke comming from anywere, so i am a little confused?? anybody have any ideas or were else i should begin to look??

Have you changed the oil recently? Some could have dripped somewhere and is burning off.

Were you driving the car hard, some oil could have been aspirated through the PCV and into the intake and gotten burned.

actually i changed the oil about a month and a half ago, and i guess not driving and harder than ususal, would you guys recommend that PVC Bypass mod at all that i have seen here and there that can be done for like 10 bucks??

Car or truck ahead of you??

Whenever I get a smell of oil or something burning when i drive, I scoot up ahead in traffic and it's usually some clunker a mile or so ahead of me

actually i was not really allowing people to stay in front of me, ha i was doing alot of passing, but yeah i did smell it yesterday, and its only when its cold, and its strong for about 30 seconds then disappears so IDK ill just chalk it up to one of those unexplained mysteries, which makes me think its the PVC bypass,

Maybe something has a very slow drip onto your exhaust and burns off quickly?
