check ebay. I was lookin' today and the Mustang II flexplate and bellhousing for the C4 auto and V8 frame mounts,motor mounts are all on there right now

You may be $$$$$ ahead if you can get your hands on a V8 parts car. Buying all the stuff individually that you'd need can easily nickle and dime you to death.
Yeah I've found that the manual rack is pretty forgiving in clearance. You can pretty much run a std. front sump oil pan with the manual rack. However, I don't think the MII V8 bellhousing will work then. The starter is clocked tighter to the oil pan and you'd have to modify the std. pan to accept the starter. Possibly a mini starter might resolve? Never ran across this ... at least not yet.
