Ok, am i missing something? what should i see if the balancer has gone bad?

i posted a thread awhile ago about needing a new balancer...but today i was down under the car and didnt see any rubber coming out at all....usually when i see people's shot balancer there is all sorts of shredded rubber sticking out all over...well everything i could see is fine....i think when i was looking im just seeing a "wobble" because of the part of the balancer that has like a notch in it....maybe im missing something though....???

You obviously have been posting for some time(by the looks of your super stallion rating) so forgive me if this sounds dumb, maybe its so bad that the rubber is gone(just a thought). I do know what you're saying about the rubber sticking out thats how mine was.

My balancer has both the symptoms. It wobbles like a weeble, and it has the black rubber coming out. How many miles on your car? If about 100k I would recommend changing it. For 89.95 the professional products is well worth it.

...and no i can see where the rubber is...its a black line all the way around the balancer....the rubber is there...but its not sticking out...(unless i shouldnt be able to see any hint of the rubber...

You'll be able to see the rubber on the back side of the balancer, but it should be flush with, if not down inside the balancer a little bit.

on the back side as in facing the crank correct??


i looked there and didnt see any sticking out over there but concentrated on the front, i will look again at the back now....

FWIW, When mine went bad, there was no rubber sticking out either. The outer 'ring' seperated from the inner ring and I could spin the outer ring by hand
