hi, i am trying to get the starter off so i can pull the bellhousing
i can't reach the bolt thats on the other side
i must be just ignoring somthing cause i searched alot of posts and found nothin about it
maybe if i lower the motor some more?

the bolts can be a pita to get to and get out with the motor in the car. You can use a 1/4 drive ratchet and socket to get to it if you can get hand up there. Have fun!!

i dunno about your car, but on my car i turned the wheels all the way to the left, and if you reach through the wheel well on the rear of the wheel theres a small hole in the uh... something that allows access to the starter wire bolt. through this the top starter mounting bolt is easily accessed. good luck bro, and it just takes doing it i guess. ive had to pull my starter three times and install it three times and theres still a problem with the third rebuilt starter, but the good side is i can pull it in like 15 mins. later

The top bolt requires a lot of patience, and some skinned knuckles.

You need to find the right combination of socket, universal joint, and extensions to get the ratchet into a place where you can turn it. When I did mine, I was able to get the ratchet handle out to where I could turn it one or two clicks at a time.

It was slow going, and very frustrating (since I could see the bolt but just couldn't reach it), but it worked.

Since the bolts are going into aluminum, they shouldn't be torqued too tight. With a little luck you should be able to turn the socket by hand after you've backed it out only a couple of turns.

If the top bolt were as easy to remove as the bottom one, it would only be a 5 minute job, and the stealership service centers couldn't charge you $400 to do it.

Ok here is what you do. My uncle works on Mustangs for a living and he just did mine for me. You need a lot of extensions because the easiest way is to go from the front of the engine through the motor mount and its straight ahead. I know my uncle used about 5 long extensions but he got it with ease after me and my dad fooled with it for about a half hour. Hope this helps!:nice:
