My TO bearing has been constantly going bad. I havent changed it since I got it but I have a feelign it will go in a few more months. The problem is that the cable is too short, preloading the bearing thus always having it engaged a little. I am going to get an adjustable cable, new TO bearing (of course), and I was thinking about completely redoing the clutch and flywheel.

The clutch and pressure plate were changed not that long ago. not sure how long but my friend had the car for 8 months, and me and him did it, and I had the car for 5 months. So its not that old. The clutch is a regualt replacement clutch, and the pressure plate is a King Cobra plate he had in his shop.

What would you suggest as far as parts I should get? TO bearing and cable are first on the list, pilot bearing (not sure if that may be attributing to the problem), and possibly new clutch, pressure plate, and fly wheel. What would you suggest I get. Car is mosty stock, straight pipes, cobra roller rockers. And 3.73" and 75-100 shot coming soon. What would you suggest that is not insanely expensive cause I am about to start college and would like to save some money.

Steeda adj quardrant works and looks great, but you have to self drill and tap a set screw cause it will vibrate loose.I think I saw them for around 80 dollars recently and it comes with the cable er mine did anyways. And follow fordtechs advice for your tob, pilot and flywheel as well.

I planned on getting the Steeda cable and adj. But does anyone reccomend a certain set of bearings?

If the clutch was noticably slipping from having too much cable preload, I would figure on having to replace the clutch components (disk, PP TOB and turn the flywheel, or atleast scuff it up well).

You can always shelf the clutch kit or sell it if not needed.

The TOB thing is a toss up. It used to be that Ford TOB's were best liked, but folks recently have been posting issues with them.

Ive never had a problem with the clutch slipping, but ill get it all down then see if it needs to be changed. It was all done about 8 months ago.

Cool. I still might take a looksie at the diaphram fingers to make sure the constant (perhaps excessive) TOB meshing didnt wear the fingers. If so, that could damage or hinder performance of the new TOB.

Good luck bud.

i highly recommend the UPR triple-hook quadrant and extreme firewall adjuster--i'm running this setup w/ the stock calbe and it works really well! clutch pedal feel is a lot softer and smoother. it took care of the whine, too.
