And I am sure that I could search the formu but I am at work and dont need to get busted messing around online... only a few min left for lunch.
These all pertain to a 66 - 6 cyl automatic coupe that has been in the "project stage" for a rather long time, we are the 3rd owners since the project started and we are getting close, it is actually on the road again, test driving in primer. She has an apointment at the paint booth in 2 weeks. We have owned her for 3 years now.
1- Door locks. Can anyone recomend a good source. Both sides are sticky and do not work well. The passenger does not work at all. We will pull the pannels off again to see what might be binding up but I think we will still be replaing the locks themselvs.
2- Oil pressure. The motor is running fine (almost see below), but seems to be light in the oil pressure as in the gauge barely moves. New sending unit, normal what????
3- Turn signals. After mucho wireing stress, we have them all working now, but this is actually a 2 part questions. the turn signal lever does not return automaticly, should it? And second, the front turn signal / running lights do not stay on when the head lights are on. Is this correct. they still flash but the lights turn off when we turn on the head lights
4- we cant adjust these valve springs can we? We have a ticking in the front valve. Does this mean we need to tear the motor down and do a top end rebuild. IF so, we will run compression test first and possibly a full rebuild (or the 16 yr old will get his wish and a new modern motor/trans combo... and the rest of the summer in the garage)
5- when we originally purchased the car, it ran - sort of... .we did all the tune up stuff we could think of and purchased a new (to us) autolite carb off ebay. We live here in Denver CO, the Mile High City and all, do we need to re-jet the carb. I have not worked on a carburated engine in a long time. We bolted the new carb up, fired her up and she runs, but smells "rich" when driving.
Ok folks, I am going to sign off for now, read all your replies and thank you for all of your help (most of it was through the search function) with this project over the last 3 years.
