i attached the magnetic base and placed the dial indicator with thetip of it pushing against the coast side of the (the long side if im not mistaken) of the ring gear. i then made sure the ring gear was up against the pinion gear and set the indicator to zero, i then moved the ring gear and it hit the the pinion again and i got .0135 its hard to see i know, but this what my wear pattern looks like is it safe to slap everything back together?

The wear marking should be more towards the center of the ring. The right to left alignment is good, but the pinion depth is off. The pinion needs to be installed so that it causes the wear pattern to move away from the outer part of the ring and more towards the center. I remember that you had some problems with getting the pinion installed.

See http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/5ohcpa/cpa5ohtech001.htm for help.

You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Increase the pinion depth. This means you get to take the pinion all apart ... again...
