Lets say you have $1200 to spend on your 99-04 GT (5 speed). Want performance, but also a nice sound from the exhaust. Emission not a problem, installing is. Will be giving shop everything to install.

So the question is how would u spend your $1200, keeping in mind installation fees.

Everything is fair game, any mod. Just wanna hear what you guys would do in my situation since i'm stuck on what the hell to do lol

Save it ... keep putting away for a KB 9psi kit. You'll have it in no time!

Screw all the BS bolt ons and go straight for the blower. Wish I did, but couldn't resist.

I’d not let it burn a home in my pocket, then put it away to save another $3,800.00 and drop in all on a KB

*EDIT*
I see that TylerB beat me to it.

gears ==$350 installed

you will get a host of other things here..

I would personally get new rims and tires....17X9 front, 17X10.5 in the rear

if you shop around, you will be right around 1400...

In that case I say spend it on college and drive your Mustang around stock until you're done. Sounds like money's gonna be tight in the mean time.

gears-150
install-200
o/r x pipe-150
NX wet kit-525
MSD window switch-100

for a couple hundred more I would add on the gen2 upgrade which I think adds a bottle warmer, purge, wot switch, and a few other things.

The nitrous will give you the biggest bang for your buck. With a 100 shot you will see 100 hp and 150+ tq. If you go this route make sure to get colder plugs and if you can afford it, get a tune.

Doesn't matter. If you keep putting money away ... over time ... it's amazing how much money you can have saved.

nah i might have overstated the tightness for money. my parents are gonna pay for college but this is my own personal money that i really dont have much use for right now and dont really have any expenses right now since i'm not tied down by anything lol

oooohhh i like the way that sounds. i would probably be able to get exactly what u said there, but not get a tune. hmm if i get the xpipe now, will i be able to get LT headers later on without having to buy a new xpipe? i was confused about that so i was thinking to go with a catback instead?

that sounds pretty good as well. tho i'm so lost on the exhaust its not even funny. i'm new to cars, so that might have something to do with it lol. but what i want out of my exhaust is a nice deep rumble without the drone on the inside or cackle/rattle on the outside. i've been tryin to find a setup that will give me that but i cant seem to find it. and when i do the price is out of my league lol

and i would save up for a blower/turbo, but that would take yeaaaars, so i'm gonna stick with bolt ons lol

Take the $1200 and invest it in a Roth IRA. I wish I had started at a younger age. I would be retired now...

Mods should come from fun money so unless this is fun money you'll need insurance, gas, books, date money etc.... If it is fun money do a Cat Back exhaust since that's already on your list. That will run $500-700 installed depending on your selection. Then with the remaining $600 or so, gears, at least a K&N drop in filter and a performance chip/tuner. Check/search these boards, there's lots of good info and plenty of debate.

you will need a shorty midpipe with longtubes, but a used o/r x pipe is not hard to sell...you could probably get 100 out of it when you are ready to get longtubes.

Don't waste your money on a catback. You will see ~5 hp from it. If you want the sound difference, get some mufflers and have them welded into your stock catback. This way should cost half as much as a catback.

no on the catback? i'm not really going to be taking this car to the track much, since i wont really have much time i think with college coming up and such. i just want a nice sounding car that plants my ass in the seat when i get on it. i want to gain some performance so that way i can hang with some cars on the street, but i dont really care to much about my 1/4 times as of now.
