New tires, alignment, brakes today. Car rides like a dream.

I want some real power now. I have an auto for reason beyond my control so my goal is mid 13's.

Should I just drop the cash for gears and heads ?

What site do you guys use for GT40P heads ?

Thanks all

If you drive on the highway and like going over 70 mph then you probably won't like gears at all. But you'll definately like the performance on the street. If I drove a lot on the highway then the highest gear I would go with would be a 3.55

you can find used GT40p heads very cheap....like $300 shipped cheap!!!

here is a link to a good classifieds section:
http://www.corral.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=269

For about $480 including shipping you can get brand new GT-40P heads with a 5 angle valve job, oversize 1.95/1.54 stainless valves, and upgraded springs. Call www.tristatecylinderhead.com and talk to Jim Daly and he can hook you up.

In my opinion these are the best deal on Mustang performance heads. You can also go to www.buyfordracing.com and buy new GT-40Y aluminum heads for $750 + shipping. Another kick butt deal.

Thanks guys.

I need to do some more research. The GT40P heads, are they just a direct bolt on or do other items need to be upgraded also ?

Are there specific headers for the GT40P heads. God this is insane and great at the same time. I've only had the Mustang for 5 days !!! I know absolutely nothing about the 5.0.

Thanks to everyone for the help and advice.

the stock headers wont work

I was in the same exact position as you back in September, except the guy had already put in some MAC flowpaths.

I went this route:
1)got an o/r h pipe (defintely felt some extra power down-low, and definitely made the car a beast, sound wise)
2) got some clear cobra headlights (no point in going fast, when you don't look good)
3) bought some u/d pulleys, and 4.10 gears (hopefully get them installed this week)

My next mod will be some radials and rims, i'm planning 275s all the way around. Cause there's no point in having all that power w/o some traction.

After that I'll start working on suspension, get some eibach springs, and some subframes.

And after that a 2800 stall.

Those are my future plans, hope you had fun reading all of that.
