What's all this talk about not being able to hook on 17" DR's??? I run both 315-35-17 nitto DR's and 26X10.5X16ET streets. My BEST 60' on ET streets is a 1.65, my best on the nitto.... 1.66. That is hooking pretty hard there folks. I ran a 12.31 at 111.15mph (in better weather) on the ET streets, and a 12.33 at 110mph on nitto DR's. My suspension is stock except for GW LCA's and subframe connectors. The drag radials require more of a finese to get to hook, but once you learn it, they are a great tire. I was pulling 1.70-1.72 on my good days on 245-50-16 nitto DR's.

I think because you are still on stock springs/struts, have 4.10's, and are obviously a good driver and go to a good track thats why you 60' so well. The best I've been able to get is a 1.99 with the 255/50/16 BFG's. I know for a fact that the Steeda sport springs killed my weight transfer, thus killing my 60'. I would never trade them for that insane wheelgap though.

To each there own. I have wheel gap just like killer, running good times is what some of us enjoy..

Anyways, ive went 1.70X 60ft on 17" nittos. Ive bent two stock axles with the nittos, and have since added 31 spline superior axles which have held up great.

Ok guys, so the T5 should be alright? Thats the main thing I am concerned about, since Ill just swap some 31 splines and a 31 spline trac-lok when I get my 4.10s installed. But should I go with the 315/35 or 275/40-17s? BFGs BTW. Thanks a lot guys I really appreciate it.

Well I go road-racing 3-4x a year, and I enjoy the increase in handling & improvement in brake dive as much as I do the lack of crazy wheelgap. But yeah, if you're strickly about drag racing, leaving the stock springs in makes the most sense.

Granted I dont have a ton of h/p, I do have a good feel for driving nittos off the line. With well over 100 passes of low 1.8/high 1.7 60's, I've yet to do any damage to the 28 spline axles or the tranny. Because of the lower profile of the 17" dr's, your not going to be dumping your clutch off the line. Therefore, your clutch will be taking a bit of abuse rather than your axles...but it's still less abuse on your clutch than what regular radials require.

Old post ,sorry guys
I had rebuild my T-5 in January because I had bad syncrons, now stock 8.8 with 3.73 going south all that because I had a few powershifts, and a few 6000+rpms on 275-40-17 Nitto DRs and still bog down, but still I had my 60ft now in low 1.8s
Don't play too much and everything will be ok, but if you do like I do everything will go south , just kidding man

Just going to order Eaton with strange 31 from summit than I will play evem more

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
