I thought i read somewhere that it isnt safe to clean our throttle body's with a can of throttle body cleaner due to a protective coat of something on the inside.. Is this true? Is it safe to clean it? This article says it is.. http://www.muscularmustangs.com/tb.php

Thanks...
Kris

I clean mine with WD40....I spray it down, let it soak for a bit then clean with rags and Q-tips...She gets cleaned and lubed at the same time...
I know the TB's have that sticker on em saying it "special coated" or some chit...I have never actually used carb cleaner on any F.I. car Iv'e owned...
I clean my IAC valves with WD also...Havent had any ill affects from it yet...

I never read that on my TB.... but may have been there at one time and the previous owner took it off. I know my Ranger's have the sticker that say don't clean it. I once cleaned my GT's TB using a MAF spray cleaner. What RIO said sounds like a good idea. When I clean mine again, I'll use the WD-40.

On foxes (and apparently SN's) there is a teflon coating on the TB (kinda cool, huh). And toleune in carb cleaner can eat the teflon off.
Chances are someone beat you to it anyhow, but most EFI cleaners omit that ingredient. By that same token, a lot of EFI cleaners dont work as well as the hasher carb cleaner. I like Andy's idea.
