So I'm waiting for my chance to hop on 465 this morning, and there's this Carrera coming out of the gas station at the corner. I move up, to make some room for him so he doesn't block the right turn lane. He slides mostly into place behind me, blocking the turn lane anyway, and comes to a stop. We're sitting still for a few seconds

*THUMP*

and I realize he just hit my brand-new Mustang. I turn around to look at him, and he just waves. Jackass.

So I start looking for a place to pull over without blocking traffic (blocking the Meridian-465 onramp during the morning commute isn't going to endear me to anyone), and the first place that looks good is the shoulder just past the ramp. I head halfway up the ramp

*ZOOM*

and see that s.o.b. fly past me. All I could do was check the license plate as he went by - I'm only certain about all but one digit, but out of ten cars, how many are going to be blue Porsches? After that, I dropped back into traffic - a Mustang chasing a Porsche down 465 would've only landed us both in jail.

The damage is incredibly tiny - to be honest, I feel bad about an officer having to drive out to my apartment to check it out. Looks like his license plate holder left some white marks, and the screw holding it on punched through the paint on my bumper, leaving a tiny nick and a dimple. But the arrogance of taking off like that... that ticks me off.

Pretty rude and thoughtless of the other driver, IMHO. I don't blame you for being ticked off and calling the law, even if nothing happens. At least later on you won't kick yourself for not at least trying to do something about it.

I'd call the police also. Imagine who else he may have hit or killed.

Yep. The guy in the Porsche should have had a) the balls and b) the courtesy to stop and check for damage. The fact he didn't shows what a ****ing arrogant c****ucker he is. No different from the crummy wankshafts that ding folks doors in parking lots and drive away as if nothing happened. FOAD to all of 'em I say.

Carry a .44 mag and shoot his rear spoiler off. That way it would be easier to tell who it was that hit you. He was probably a punk drug dealer or something. I can't imagine anyone who actually worked for a living taking such ****ty care of an over-priced european car. Sorry to hear about the damage to your car.

What's the one thing worse than your average Corvette driver......? Your average Porshe driver, that's what! What a jackass!

I think the worst part is that he hit me after he stopped, not before. Come on, man, garage that car if you don't know how to drive!

Anyway, they sent a county sheriff out to look at it, and he said there wasn't much he could do for me, since we had both already left the scene of the accident. He did take a report and inspect the damage, however, so at least there's a record, and I gave him the plate number, so maybe they'll get a hold of the guy so that he (or his insurer) can pay for it.

I'm normally too laid back to really lay into the guy, but the fact that he didn't even hang around long enough to pull over and exchange numbers once we were out of the way of traffic is still pretty annoying.

Why did you move at all? You need to jump right out of your car, yank the prick out of his car and ask him what the fock his problem is.

Sorry to hear about your accident...

I would have just blocked traffic for 30 seconds, got out of my car and wrote down his license plate # and then motioned to him that he needs to pull over with you.

Yes - block traffic - yes it ticks people off - too bad...

Maybe you can get by with a little polishing compound...

The guy who hit you got away and will never get in trouble for what he caused to your car.

Next time someone hits you.... call the police right away and safely get out of your car and deal with the other driver. If (s)he drives off get his plates and then give it to the officer so they can then go try to nail him.

Someone sideswiped my 300ZX a few years ago in Michigan while I was in the house. Because it was summer with the windows opened, I heard it. When I went outside, other neighbors were standing around not understanding what exactly they just saw but were pointing in the direction of the offender. I jumped in the Z and took off after them. Needless to say they got a good jump on me and I never did catch up to them. I filed the police report anyway and got my replacement parts a few weeks later. The cost of the parts didn't warrant me filing a claim with my insurer. Next time get the SOB. Tired of people not caring about other peoples' property. :damnit:

That really pisses me off. F***ing prick. I always get dings and **** in my truck. No one gives a f*** about my truck. Dings all up and down the doors, all over the bed, and someone even hit my bumper while I was parked and drove away. You cant really see the damage (it was the body behind the rear bumper that got damaged) but I never saw anyone there. That really ticks me off. Thats one of my main issues with getting a mustang. I don't want to be the one responsible for keeping it ding free. I will literally beat the living hell outta anyone that touches me car. I don't want to have to do that but some people have no respect. Especially if they're in POS old cars. Mother f***ers.

I some times wonder how it'd feel to pull them outta their car and beat them to death with a bat.....maybe GTA did mess with my mind.

I need anger management or to find some way to rid the world of retarded people.

Thanks, all.

I've pretty much accepted that nothing'll happen to the guy. It's so tiny - maybe 1/8" x 1/16", if that - that I doubt the officer will do anything, unless he's really ticked about the guy taking off. The damage is probably right around my deductible so I'm not entirely certain what I'll do yet.

Just one more scene in my long week of suckage....

I'm not a lawyer but I'm pretty sure the amount of the damage is not an issue. What you describe is a hit and run, period. Nail that bastard for the rest of us.
