What you can do is just figure out how big your chambers are, pick out what head gaskets your gonna use and give the piston company a call and they will get you in the right direction.

thats good for the calculations, but when you actualy build it, don't pick out your head gaskets untill you assembly the shortblock, otherwise you are just throwing dice as to what your actual quench clearance is, and trust me you want to nail that down.

Hmmm, there seems to be a little confusion on turbos in this thread, and it is sounding like some background research is needed to pick up some of the fundamentals. I recommend going pick up Corky Bell’s “Maximum boost” turbo book. It really doesn’t get heavily into all the technical engineering details, but is a great leap off point to most enthusiasts. It gives a fair amount of good general “best practices” and “rules of thumbs” without the high level theory to bog you down. If you get through that and want more you will probably have to end up at the SAE bookstore. There are some decent turbo forums on the interweb (I am sure someone around here has some links) with some good FAQ’s, but be wary of the normal forum noise and mis-information. If you want answers to theoretical details engtips might be your best bet.

So if i went with 9:1 Probe pistons, and stock ported e7's would the CR still remain at 9:1?

Just hone it, re-ring it, bearing it, and slap it together. I wouldn't spend alot on the bottom end, unless you are getting a dart or motorsport block...... Spend your $ on a DFI and fuel system first......

wont honeing it require wider pistons though? My pistons dont look to good so far.......I dont want to spend over 1500$ on rebiulding the stock block. If i can bore it over to a 306, throw some new bearings, rings, pistons, and rod bolts in there then.

Actually how much would it be just to throw some new rings and bearings in there with some arp rod bolts? Then again i wanna lower the CR.....

you don't need to lower the compression, all it would gain you is the ability to run more boost on pump gas and you can already run enough to break stuff with the stock compression.

Honing the bores as long as it's just a cleanup type deal won't require a piston change, boring it will however.

If the compression was fairly good before you took it apart I'd just go with it and replace the whole shortblock when the thing lets go, but I've been known to do stuppid **** before too like 30+ psi with a head gasket that I know isn't happy and coolant temps over 200 at the start of a pass

stock motors are cheap, think of it as a wear item like a clutch or breaks.

Joey, like I said, just go find a decent low mile 87-91 shortblock. Shouldnt be to terribly hard to find one in the $5-600 range. Look into the Lincoln Mk7 LSC's too.

Turbo's are a great power adder for anyone that wants to go fast and still use the car. I know there are lots of fast supercharged and N20 cars out there, but to run low, low, loooooow 11's @ 124-125 with stock heads with a little clean up, stock bottom end, stock TB, it just makes me smile everytime I put my foot in it. Plus, sat eve I drove up to the new coffee hang out(50mile round trip) and sunday I took the wife out on the back roads for a (70 mile cruise) I'm very happy with the turbo!!!

Nate

p.s. I wanna send a big thank you to Eric at Krazy Koncepts for his help through the project. Couldn't have done it with out him :Track:
