Well, it does say: "Please email us before place a bid!" So something has to be wrong with it. I'm thinking bad or blown motor.

I too wondered about this "too good to be true deal" and therefore ran a carfax and emailed the seller.
The carfax was clear w/ no reported damage, rollback, flooding, etc. I received an email back this morning from the bidder:

"First of all, we like to inform you that the 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 4.6L is in excellent running and body condition, never had an accident and there are no flaws on it or any other mechanical problems. There is no lien against the car. It has a clear title and it will be signed and notarized in your name as soon as the payment will be completed. The buy it now price is $10,000 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. The car is located in Los Angeles, CA.

Now, in order to be able to buy it please let us know if you have any negative feedback and, if this is the case, for what reason. We apologize for asking for such information but we had a few problems with non paying bidders in the past. Please also provide us with the following details necessary to take a decision:

-your full name and address for shipping

-your ph#

Regarding the payment I am aware of the buyer's protection and I will use a third party which will hold the payment until the buyer receives the car. To complete the payment the buyer must have cash available."

The interesting thing is that he mentioned Ebay's buyer protection program. In order to qualify though, you have to purchase through Ebay, but the auction is no longer listed. There it would be outside of Ebay's "jurisdiction." Also, he states the car is located in L.A., not in Illinois as advertised in the auction.

What do you guys think??? Is this for real? I'm going to email him w/ a follow-up...

It was probably a load of crap. ebay has scammers like this popping up left and right. I bought a '98 Expy over ebay and had it delivered back in 2000. Within 1 week of it showing up at my house, I was checking my account and noticed that it indicated I was selling something. I clicked on the item just to see what I was "selling". It turned out to be my truck, and the bidding was up to 16K. The ad indicated much of the same crap that was in this '03 Cobra ad, verbatim, and listed the VIN of my vehicle as the one being sold. I e-mailed "myself" to see what I knew about the car. As soon as I got the return e-mail, I contacted ebay with the e-mail sender's address and shut down the sale, changed my password, and was more than a little gunshy of ebay for a few months. BE VERY CAREFUL out there in cyberspace. Not everyone is looking out for your best interest.

Had a similiar chain of events a few months ago on a Boss 429 mustang. Said to contact the seller to prequalify. They wanted $10k for a 1969 Boss 429 in immaculate condition. Said car was in Europe please send them $4k via Western Union to cover shipping and pay balance upon delivery. They even sent me a copy of the build sheet and lots of pictures. I then asked them for specific pictures which they where unable to show, and they got very snide saying how i should trust them becuse they are respectable people. yada yada yada. Then a few days later there was another add for another Boss 429 for $10k, differnt pictures color everything same story contact us to prequalify. They Sent me the exact same letter saying the car was in Europe it was verbatim! Needless to say i was glad that i did not Western Union them $4k. I wonder if its some sort of rag-head terrorist group raising mony for Al-Quaida?

Now today i got an e-mail saying im the only qualified bidder and that they want 2.5K for a down payment, the rest when the car arrives... umm, no i never bid on it, i just asked a question. I hate stupid stuff like this. Oh yea, appearantly my buddy is the "only qualified bidder" for the M3 too... the cars are both located in "ebays warehouse" in los angeles CA. Anyone else get this message??
