Nah....its just the stocker...whatever the hell it was made out of. Its pretty dang rusty.

I'm tired of hitting my head against the flange when I'm trying to crawl back to the back of my garage. Right now its kinda pinned into the corner with the boat in the garage, but maybe I can get it out without having to pull out the boat.

Moving the boat means moving all the other crap that has gotten stored in front of and underneat the boat over the winter.

4 cats on a stock h pipe right? They are called PreCats.....they should be around 40 each right now....so 160 bucks minimum....give or take 2-4 dollars...

Just call around to recylers and get the best price.

boats are a pain in the winter,....

But they sure are fun in the summer!

I'll let you know what I find out. I'll probably try calling a few places closer to me....and the place 85_SS mentioned and see what they tell me.

A metal recycler. Someone who specializes in cats. The two front ones are pre cats. Now depending on year so are the rears, but some might buy them as a regular...which will be more money than a precat. I can't remember the exact years.



DOC......I would cut them on both end. That way they can see both ends and make sure it is full. MY core buyer is like the big dog around here, and he likes them cut. When long pipes are on them, he is learly of buying them...sometimes they are empty/broken....then they aren't worth anything or worth less.

The new Dodge diesel pickups are made to burn on the new formulated diesel gas and thier converters are $4000.00 each. We had to replace a couple under warranty because the owners put the old style diesel gas in them.

Just to clarify...can I take the whole damn H-pipe like it is? Or do I need to cut the pre-cats off?

If you guys don't really know your stuff with the different types of scrap cats, you'll lose your a$$ with most local recyclers. They see the average joe walking in with 1 or 2 cats and starting greedily rubbing their hands together!

My advice - if you don't know exactly what it is or what it's worth then put it up on eBay and you will probably get contacted by a local guy who travels around and buys them, he'll probably even come to your house to pick them up.

BUT... if you put them on eBay you must have the cats cut off of the pipe and they must be listed as SCRAP and not for re-use. Do not state in the auction what the cats were removed from or eBay will cancel the listing. Just simply put the weight, whether or not it has ratteling or any of the honey comb visibly missing from either ends, and take a picture of it next to a yard stick. The buyers on ebay will know exactly what it is and give you what it's worth. Even if you do find an honest local scrap yard - usually an eBay buyer will give you more.
