Besides platinum, cats' contain rhodium and palladium. Rhodium is over $9,000 an ounce. Palladium is around $500ish an ounce currently.

We had some issues like that about 6mths ago but it has died down now. From what I understood the ones off cars were not worth much. Had a guy here cut them out of a Lincoln 5.0 and took them to the scrap yard and they only gave him like $10.00 each? I then heard that its the semi truck cats that are worth the big money, then I hear some semi's dont even copme with cats, deisel?? Im confused. My stock h-pipe is in the garage here @ the shop upstairs. Im gonna keep it, not hard up for money,,,,,, just yet. I may need to put it back on if emmision testing comes back..

The catalytic converters on BBK H-pipes and such are not worth what the factory ones are. They are an aftermarket cat and they are worth about 10-20 each vs. Fords Pre-Cats. My scrap buyers are excellent and categorizing the converters...I have worked with them for about 10 years.

Mustangs have 4 Pre-cats...they call them. Ten years ago, I was doing good getting 10 dollars a peice for them. Now, 2007-2008, they have been worth 38-45 dollars a peice. So your 4 cat H-pipe is worth about 150-160 dollars depending on the time of month.

Other categories: they call them: Large GM's. Medium, Regular, Large Import, Small Import, Pre cat. A/C. Large Bead, Small Bead, Wire, Aftermarket.

They are all worth different amounts.

They are stealing converters left and right around here. They are just going into parking lots and taking a cordless sawzall and just hacking them off and selling them. While they are getting 100 for scrap, the customers car needs 500+ in repairs because new OEM cats, no aftermarket replacements are very expensive.

I buy and sell cats locally a little bit and I just sold 3 cats today all out of 86-89 Pontiac Grand Prix's and got $420 total.

YEP...Don't you love Large GM's?? I think they are at 140-150 each right now depending on who buys them from you.

This is insane. In the past i've cut them out and tossed them with junk metal runs. Had no idea they were worth a dime.

Yep, a week ago I got 160 each for them, but the market has gone down some. One was a large GM and the other 2 were bread loafs - are bread loafs also known as large GM's?

I don't watch too much tv or pay attention to the stock market, but my buyer told me that some civil war crap or something was going on over in Africa or wherever all these mines are for Platinum and rhodium, and the prices are through the roof because they're not mining near as much of it...

I've still got the mid-pipe from my 04....only had about 23k miles on it when I swapped it out. It just sits in the garage and I want to get rid of it. I just haven't wanted to go through the hassle of trying to Ebay it if I could just take it to a yard or somewhere and get cash on the spot.

I got F'in ripped off on my Merkur cat because the guys at the scrap yard couldn't recognize it because the car is foreign and rare. They had a book with all the makes and models and what their cats looked like and how much they were worth, but the Merkur wasn't in there. It was huge too, about the size of a stock EFI intake. I got $35

Yeah just take it all down there. Is the pipe stainless? That might get you a few bucks more.
