old style crank in newer style block? Help!

Has anyone used a old crank from a two piece rearmain seal block in a newer style onepiece rear main block.It seems to me that I should just be able to machine the small lip on the old style crank to clear my newer block. what do you think?

Correct....just check the diameter of seal surface
