Your doing good if you make over 300rwtq on a 302 with thous mods.
rwhp is probabley within the 240-270 range if it's cold out and you got a fan blowing air into the intake tube.

I am going to say if it is tuned well closer to 270hp, but the tq curve should look good.

also, how could you spend that much money on your motor and NOT do a cam?? There would see about 20-30hp tuned right.

Without a cam, i'd say like 255 hp or so, but with one i'd say around 275-280.

People underestimate the y heads, but they aren't all that much different than the x's, minor exhaust porting and some milling and they are nearly identical.

With almost the exact combo in my sig, a guy at my Local speed shop made 289 hp to the wheels. Properly tuned of course.
That's with the y heads with a valve job, bowl clean up and milled. (same being done to mine)
Not real bad for a set of heads you can get for 700 bucks new.

The y's are an older design, from back when things weren't so refined and there wasn't 50 sets of aftermarket heads. So i'm told it's a good idea to take them to a machine shop.

A couple guys have started to explain his misunderstanding, but have just not made it clear to him. The stock 5.0 Mustang makes 225 hp at the flywheel. That is only around 190ish at the wheels. Everyone that has posted has given you Rear wheel horse power figures, not fly wheel hores figures. So if you make 230 RWHP, you are making around 260 hp at the flywheel. There is drive train loss when the car transmitts power to the rearend. It is usually between 15-20 % loss.

Understood, not on dyno but on street

Well not all was motor, I also dropped in a new Tremec, clutch, exhaust, suspension & a few other little things.

I did not do the cam for a reason, lowend torque, I don't like sacrificing lowend torque for high end torque, I only drive it from place to place or to pick my little girl up from school so building it for long stretch racing is pointless as that's not what I do.

Will do, it will be a day or two as they said they will need it left overnight, btw here's the dyno I'm using, DynoJet 248H High Intertia Chassis Dyno that can handle up to 1500 rear wheel horsepower and 200 mph speeds & a link to the site http://turboconnection.com/

You shouldn't have to leave the car over night at a dyno place. I haven't heard of that unless they were doing extensive tuning.

I think you're going to make around 260 rwhp and 310 tq. I don't think there is a significant difference between the power output from the Y heads, and the Xs. I had a similar combo (X heads, small comp cam, cobra intakes, TB, MAF, off-road H, shortie headers) that made 270/311. Without a cam and with the Ys, I don't think you'll be far behind.

Ya that's about 70rwhp always hoping for more of course, I am just dropping it off "No appointment" there just going to fit me in sometime during the day or next morning, there going to be doing extensive tuning though, I did not have a working timing light when I put it in & I just eye balled it, I'm running a bit rich right now but there going to tune all that for me on the dyno

I had almost the exact same combo, expect with a 70mm TB, an E303 cam, and Edelbrock heads. The heads had the 1.90" intake valves, with very mild port matching to the Cobra Intake.

The combo above yielded 304hp and 337tq to the rear wheels. I did a repeat test with the accessory belt off, no water pump, alternator, etc... The results were as expected, yielding 317hp and 342tq to the rear wheels.

So with your setup using the stock cam and non-ported heads or intake, I would expect you will see about 255-270hp with about 290-310tq at the rear wheels.

Let us know the results. Keep in mind that 255hp to the rear wheels = 294hp at the flywheel, which is a 69hp bump.

I only used em once before & that was to install gears, that was 3 or 4 years ago, I know he's good, how good I don't know. I talked to that other place in St.Louis & they were badmouthing em over the phone, that kinda scared me away from them but I do know he has a better dyno & a much better reputation with write ups in mustang magazines & even featured car, 1,100hp 90 Mustang in Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine so.

Well I did just have a problem with Jim @ turbo connections, I went there threee times in a month having it dyno tuned once only to have him tell me I need a bigger fuel pump & a pro-m optimizer & new o2 sensors so I walked out of there paying $200 basically for nothing @ wich time he said he would hook me up when I come back wich I did & he didn't, he still charged me $140 for a full hour but I let that slide then 2 weeks later I get a Kenne Bell & take it back figuring I would definately get a discount or free tune this time but no what he does is spend 15 minutes adjusting then unplugs the 02 sensors he just told me to buy then pulls all my sparkplugs & regaps them & tells me I'm done with a measily 355 HP & charges me like $350, I'm really pissed about my recent dealings with him & am probably going to call my credit card company & reverse the last charges & take that $ to go to Muscle Mustangs in St.Louis.

Uhh I still don't got my guage since I ordered it but they hooked up there's & said it was betwwen 6&7 @ wot but I do have a 8lb pulley on there & so I called Kenne Bell & they said since I have done all the other stuff to my motor I'm actually probably getting more like around 9-10 lbs boost as they said boost guages only measure back pressure
