On/Off-Road Motorcycle

For your size I would go no lower than one of the newer 450's or so...My son bought a WF450 last year....plenty of sack for sure....If your on the highway you dont want some mutt...Plus they have the height your gonna need.
make sure you get something thats road legal...I know the VIN numbers can dictate whether or not its legal for road use, so check that out...The WF he bought was the off road version. It had lights and all but wasn't registerable without having the proper on road VIN digit..
Some of the older Honda/Kawi 650 models could be had for 3K or so?? I know my son paid around 5400.00 for his 05 450...they ain't cheap..Bud of mine had one of the 650 Honda's and loved it..

Speaking of the Honda....he traded the WF in this year on an 06 CBF 450R....This thing screws...:nice: He said the WF was way to top heavy..

Well if you have never been on a bike, an on/off road starter bike makes more sense from a learning perspective....You kinda need the "slow" training you can get on a dirt bike to me...Its much easier taking a year goofing around in the boonies and stuff to learn the basics...
From there stepping up to a 600 sport bike is plenty good to start....Any of the top names bikes are fine...I have had Honda/Kawi/Suzuki and cant complain one way or the other...there all pretty dependable and have plenty of sack...

Here's one brand new the day she was delivered....:D

I'm gonna keep my eye out for a dual sport bike but I am also interested in a Suzuki Sv-650. From what I've read they seem to accomadate beginning taller riders and don't fall into the sport bike category as far as insurance rates. Where should I look for bikes, cycletrader.com?
