One Chamber Flowmasters

Man, you drive a GT....don't worry about tail pipes if you want it loud, you can't even see the damn things! Just chop off your tail pipes and dump the 2 chambers and see if that's loud enough for ya.

You can get turndowns from Autozone or Pep Boys, even like Walmart should sell muffler end pipes with a bend in them that you can use. You want them with a flaired end so they slide over top of the 2.5 inch pipe. If you're in doubt, when you cut the tail pipes off, cut a little section of pipe to take with you and size it up. The cool thing about turndowns is you don't really have to turn them down.....get the pipe clamps and turn them outward....it's even louder then! I don't run any turndowns at all though.

I agree about running turndowns. Becareful who you bring it to around inspection time. Some shops can be pricks.

Dude im runnin two chamber original 40's right now with dumps and an O/R H pipe with shorty headers and i do not like it. I liked it for the first month or so because it was LOUD...but you are going to loose that toned 5.0 sound you get from the tails (that raspy tone). It will sound like a truck...mark my words man...thats exactly what mine sounds like. I sounds nasty at high rpms but between 1500 and 3000 it sounds like a truck...and thats where you spend most of your time. good luck man

If you want loud go with the SLP loudmouth catback. I had resonators welded in on my 90 lx hatch, cause they diddnt have a catback for foxes then. Then I put the loudmouth catback on my 01 Bullitt, and i loved it. Now they make a catback for all the foxes, and im thinking of puttin it on my notch. Its a different sound than flows, but if you want loud youll get it. Heres a link http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=M31016 or check out www.lmpperformance.com there prices are usually the cheapest.

There are some loud exhaust options that will still allow your car to sound good. The Borla XR1 mufflers, while expensive are pretty loud. We had them on one of our cars and they were a tad loud... especially at full throttle -- sounded great but a little loud for banzai runs which usually occured later at night (after completing some work, generally). They sounded really nice at idle and part throttle and awesome at full throttle.

I think they're the ones they used on the S351s or it may have been optional, can't remember.

Other than that, as was mentioned, the SLP's sound good and are pretty loud.

The best way to make the exhaust sound better/louder is to crack into the motor.....

I've got a buddy with an off road H....dumped 40's and it sounds like a beast. Nothing like a truck. My off road D pipe and dumped spintech sportsmans also sounded like a dream....no complaints here about dumps except for the slight drone. :bang:

97vertstang were did you go to have the 1 chamber mufflers installed because a some shop(custom performance)said they cant do it cause it'll have to be custom cause i still want to run tail pips,so why the hell do call there shop CUSTOM performance if wont do CUSTOM work thats :bs:
