I need to replace my front brakes (pads & resurface/replace rotors not sure)
These are OEM parts on my 2001 GT. I have been thinking about the Cobra/Bullitt 13in brake kit but have some questions.
will the 13in kit work with skinnies?
can I just buy the red calipers and put them on the GT dia. rotors?
What rotors should I look at and others to avoid? (cross drilled, slotted or plain)
What about new brake pads?

Thanks

I upgraded my brakes in Feb. on my 2001 GT

I considered the cobra brake upgrade, but it was getting pricey and I needed tires as well. What I did was get the powerslot rotors for the front and resurfaced the rear discs. I also added the street/strip pads on the front and rear. I got them all from steeda and it was much less than going to the cobra setup.

They take a few days to break in fully and then they really start to bite hard. It was the best mod for my money so far. (Be it the only one yet).

If you go with the cobra setup I think you need calipers, pads, lines, and a bracket. That would be per wheel. I know that Steeda puts together packages all the time and knows all the parts you need.

I'll say this, It was the difference between night and day.

How much did the whole thing run?

I think it was around $400.00 in parts and since I don't trust myself with brakes it was $240.00 for install of 4 pairs of pads, 2 rotors and re-surface rear discs.

I think to go with a cobra setup it would be $1100.00 or so for front and back.

If I had added powerslot rotors to the back it would have run be another $190.00 I think.

But after they broke in it was like "this is the way it should've been stopping all along"
