took the tailshaft housing off my t5 today and found these pieces laying together inside the little crevice sitting between them. anyone know where they belong and how they might have gotten there? do they come loose when the tailshaft housing comes off?

If you have hanlons video you should be fine. That guy is the man. I took my t-5 to him to rebuild to to g force t-5. If you can't figure it out with the video call him he will help you out.

The yellow part i've never seen before. oil funnel is slightly smaller. But i think it could have been redesigned in 92/93 when the synchroed reverse was added. Is this a late 92/93 trans?

The other peice is a thrust washer. Going off memory, i think it's from input shaft, but might be between the drive gears as well.

Either way, looks like someone forgot to check for loose parts in the tailhousing as i don't think either should be there naturally

I was just inside 2 T5's.
1 with reverse syncro,1 without.

I've never seen the yellow thing, its not the oil sling.
The other piece appears to be a torrington bearing?

right, a Torrington bearing. I wonder where it came from and how it managed to come off... and also if it's off, has something been getting damaged? the transmission shifted fine and smooth when it was on. the only reason I'm taking the tailshaft off is to replace the speedo gear.

i think i found where the two go... but should they be somehow held down???

underneath the torrington bearing is a bearing race... if I remember correctly from hanlon's video, shouldn't the race be in between the hub and the torrington?

got it, thanks jrichker, I must be missing the snap ring then. and also I guess this means that this transmission was rebuilt at some point... and someone didn't put stuff back in correctly.
