Being somewhat new to my GT, I was wondering if anyone has done this modification? I really don't want to buy another hood. Other than cosmetic would there be any reason to do this? Thanks for understanding a new owner.

it's been done. all it really does is keep the engine bay cooler, which will help a little bit, but you prolly won't notice anything at all.

i've been thinking of making mine functional, by getting a billet piece cut out in the same size as the honeycomb & attatching a hinge on each side of the billet piece & running vaccume (sp?) line from the engine to the hinges, so that when i get on it, the billet piece will flip open. and when i let off it will close :D

also i have seen a guy do a ram air setup by opening that up as well

i took the honey comb off for a while. someone had posted a while back about them flying off without it. i didnt and refused to believe it, and im the curious type, so i took it off. all went well, but it starts getting wobbly at 65+ mph. kinda got scared and have now since saturday put it back on. dont wanna have this free "mod" end up costing me. someday ill make a ram air set up for it, but for now, its staying closed. just a little heads up. :nice:

Someone should just make like a black layered plastic insert.

Just to replace the honeycomb crap, so it would have a look simular to that of the grille delete ..

A company called ssinserts.com makes a mirror finished stainless steel insert for the hood scoop and side scoops. I have them on my '03 and it looks good.
