I purchased a 2.93 Billetflow S/C pulley and the idler set that I have yet to install, with a Gates 75.5 (I think) belt. The question here is should I just go with the Stiegemeier Stage 5 port and put a Metco lower, 2/4/6 lb pulley on and get a larger belt or do I just go with the pulleys I have and get a tune? I would send the S/C off this winter to get the work done if that is the road I take. I will probably only put 600 miles on the Snake this year and obviously the difference is cash out of pocket. So basically, do you think the port is worth the money? I don't want to put the pulleys on now and realize that the power is not enough, then send the S/C out and pay for the tune twice. I am driving the car for fun, maybe a track run or two but not neccesarily looking to spend all my money to be able to say my car has more RWHP. Further, how safe would the motor and S/C run with a 2.93 on it with a tune versus a Stage 5 port? The car only has 11K on it and I plan on owning it forever so I don't want to rip the Shxx out of it. Thanks for any input and opinions. Sorry for the book here, lastly, who sells the Metco pulley? The difference in money would go towards a new paint job on the '66 Impala or a street rod

IMHO just install your new upper and idlers, get it tuned, and drive it for a while. I just added a 2.93 and 4-pc idler to my car and it's a whole new animal!

If you decide you want to go large and get the stage 5 port from Steggy and a lower pulley too you are most likely going to have to get some fuel mods to go with it to be absolutely safe, especially if you plan on driving that car in the cool Ohio spring or fall....

Good, that's the response I was hoping to get. Final question, how much would an Accufab throttle body and plenum help? Are they worth the almost $600? Thanks again UM

Funny you ask that... I bought a BF TB and inlet when I bought my 2.93 & idlers. It was nothing but trouble on my car getting it to idle like stock. Plus it can mess with the cruise control. I played with that setup for over a month before I finally packed it all back up and sent it back to Doug at BF. I just wasn't happy with it. Want to know the really funny thing about it all? After putting my stock TB & inlet back on I noticed ZERO difference in power. I really don't think the TB & inlet are worth it on a stock Eaton setup. Maybe later down the road when you decide to port your blower it may be a better investment, but it wasn't worth the loss of great driveability as far as I was concerned.

IMHO again... skip it! If anything just send your stock TB & inlet in to Steggy along with your Eaton and let him port those too. Then you get the best of both worlds... better airflow and stock operation & driveability.

Good news again. Well, I will call the tuner shop on Monday to schedule the dyno tune. Hopefully there is not a 2 month waiting list like last time I called. We will see how it turns out and maybe next year I can send it all off to get ported if I decide to go that route. I will post the numbers and pics when done with the install.

For reference my car with 2.93, Intake and exhaust made 450/467 RWHP. I later added stage 4 port which netted 35 RWHP. Good luck!
