Hi,
Its been awhile since i've been up on here..so nice to see some of you again.

I have a question to see what you all think. I have a 2000 GT that has been supercharged since 36000 miles. I am currently at 107000 miles and still driving well. However, I believe that the age of the engine is giving me physcological issues! Anyways...I have been thinking of making some upgrades and wanted to see what route would be best. My choices are ;
1. add an intercooler to my setup (suggestions?) and leave the engine as is.

2. add an intercooler to my setup and perhaps forge the internals of the engines to help strengthen it. I am worried of hurting the stock engine..especially with its mileage.

3. add an intercooler and perhaps swap out the engine with another engine (thinking a 4.6L Cobra engine). There isn't anything in particular wrong w/ the current engine, but again, the age of the engine makes me wonder how much longer will it be able to go with a increase in power.

I would like to keep the costs of these upgrades affordable, so the engine swap is not high on my list, but I would like to make all changes at once so that i'm not having constant car issues come up. For example, I know I could just add the intercooler and keep the car going as is..but am wondering how far down the road it will be before I have to do more work to it if it begins having issues with the increase in power.

Also, if I add the intercooler and currently have 8-10psi, how much more psi could I bump it up without having other issues come up from the increase in psi?

Thanks again for your suggestions, opinions etc.

Mike

hmm.. sounds like u want more power.. and another shortblock. might as well get both, but why not just run that thing into the ground and add a intercooler if you want? im sure itl run for many many more miles if tuned and maintained right. these motors depend heavily on the tuning, and makin sure its DEAD on at high power
