Hey All,

Was hoping to get some opinions on a good cam to go with my gt40 iron heads and gt40 intake. I am concerned about drivability so it cannot be too outrageous as this car is my daily driver. Anyone with a similar setup please let me know what you are running and what you think of it.

If your willing to tune the cpu, I would consider an ecam or a bcam. Actually with any cam you will have to tune....If your willing to do that then get an aftermarket cam otherwise not. Oh actually you can check and see what cam the cobra comes with (since your heads and intake are very similar) and you could probably get away with a similar grind on your cpu.

That is just not true. If you get a cam with a 114 LSA or higher, your computer will accept the new cam with little/no issues. If you plan on staying N/A I would go with a Comp Cams XE270HR or a Crower 15511. If you think you might add nitrous then go with the NX264HR. If you think you might add a supercharger I'd go with the Steeda #19.

Just stick with a 114 or higher LSA and you'll be fine! The Ford alphabet cams are dated and there are better OTS (off the shelf) cams available. You can still get good numbers with the alphabet cams; but you can get equal or better numbers with the newer split duration cams and have better drivability to boot!

Crane 2031 seems like a popular cam choice for the GT40 setup.

Thanks for all the input guys. I do wanna keep this car NA. I had heard that the 94 cobra cam was not quite as aggresive as the gt and wondered if anyone else had heard this before? Since I am definetly gonna swap the heads, I figured I might as well get the cam swapped while its all a part.

id take the advise given here...and call around to the different cam companies...see what they say and then see what correlations there are....cam choice is one of the most important part of the combo IMO....
