I like those. If it is solid, I'd go for it.....although I wouldn't offer him more than 5k. He/she will more than likely settle for $5500. Good luck.

Contour SVT

Few things...first of all, i absolutely love my Contour SVT. Second, 71,000miles, you should ask if they have any problems with the 3rd gear synchro, they seem to a week spot of the car, and an expensive repair. Definately get something like a carfax. My first Contour SVT i bought with 75k miles and i paid $10k (i got ripped!) just last year. They're fun cars, but do be warned, the aftermarket for them is pretty limited and rather pricey at times. check out www.contour.org Dedicated completely to contours. You'll find out a lot of there. But search for answers before u post questions. Good luck.

I would definitely try and talk him down. 71K on a '99 isnt terrible but it definitely isnt ideal mileage for the year...$6K might be a little more realistic if the car had 51K miles. Wholesale value on the car right now would be about $4K, so you can judge fair private party value from that. From my experience, the SVT cars hold up quite a bit better than the standard Contour which are not the most reliable cars overall to put it nicely and are a TON more fun to drive. Hope this helps and good luck.

I just got rid of one.....sold it to a sucker and it had major 3rd gear synchro issues.....80k on the clock. It was a 1998 with a Borla. I sold it for $7200. Otherwise it was in awesome shape and had a brand new suspension on it.

I don't know much about the contour SVT's but they look pretty damn good, pretty quick for that kind of car too. If its in good shape and has been maintained, I say go for it. Has anything been done to it? That might add some value to it, other than that I agree to try and talk him down some.
