opinions on Engine Restorer product?

Has anyone ever used this product (http://www.restoreusa.com/restorer.html) the engine restorer that you can buy at the local parts store. A guy at work that drives a 96 cobra uses it, and swears by it. Then again, someone else said its like slick 50, and slick 50 completley ****ed up his motor. So I'm a little hesitant to use with the second opinion ive heard, so has anyone else heard anything about this product, or even used it? if so how did it work?

According to the specs on Engine Restorer, it is not quite like Slick 50. Slick 50 and other similar products use PTFE, which is basically flakes of Teflon. The theory behind them is, the teflon sticks to moving parts and reduces the friction. But, the teflon can stick to other things, too. that's possibly what happened to your buddy's motor.

If you're not burning oil or losing compression, and the 'stang is still driveable, don't bother. If you're trying to get those last few miles out of it before a rebuild, go for it. It's your choice in the end.

How do you "swear by something" that "claims" revitalizing internal engine components?? Do you crack the block open and check out the surface after you run it for a few thousand miles.??

Can it help compression probs in 2 cylinders??

Ive used it. Long time ago.. When you are dumping it into your motor and you realize just HOW THICK it is, i couldnt help but think this cant really be good.

Id stay away from products like that, spend your money elsewhere.

i heard it will put metal back into your rings and bearings and be like a "rebuild" in a can

you could put some solder in your plug holes then put the plugs in.. when the engine fires it will melt and you will have sweet compression again

I used it in a Buick V6 quite some time ago. My first thought was why is that so thick? Second thought was why is it blue? I followed the instructions to the letter. About a week later I was pulling the intake off to replace some collapsed lifters.

Save your money.

pure junk.. if your motor is going south it is going south no way around it.. If you wana sell your car with some bad rod nock why not just put some gear oil in it. lol
