ok as many should know, i have the 351C in the mach 1. well, what do you think about long tube headers to purple hornies header mufflers (dumped). I want loud. I dont want flows. and i dont want full length exhaust. so if you have any other idea, let me know

I wouldn't put glasspacks on it unless they're Magnaflow/Dynomax style, not the Cherry Bomb style...that'll just sound silly and too old school. There's a bunch of options that'll give you loud but still give you some tone.

Do you have or are you planning on an H or X pipe? I've never heard a Cleveland with an X pipe but i imagine it would sound amazing.

glasspacks are pretty cheap anyway. if youre gonna dump them, just set it up so that the glasspacks are the last things in the system. Then, if you dont like one $20 pair of GPs, you can try another set without much issue.

Kthx....

Mike is my homie and like I said, I wasn't trying to run him off. I'm glad he still posts in 5.0 Talk. I just wasn't sure if he's tried in there or not.

sucks to hear that, and ur my homie too

but im deciding, cuz ive heard the magnaflows and they sound real nice. i wanna see how it will sound dumped. and another thing about those purple hornies, is that i wont need to send it to an exhaust shop. saving myself loads of money.

exhaust shops around here are pricey

I think it's going to sound like a pickup from the 80s, but if you want loud, I would assume that set up would be loud.

hey mike you can get that sound without dumped.....
my dads 69 boss 302 sounds almost identical. it just long tubes-str8 pipes-to flow 40's i don't love the sound, but it sounds old school somehow......i can see how his 302 and my 302 sound like a 4 cyclinder vs. an 8,,,lol...... dont get me wrong they are both loud(i have no cat back installed yet)...i suggest you just get some good headers and mac dumps to try it out, dont put your money in exhaust save that for last....

I already have headers on the side. the reason i need to do exhaust is because i have none.

Why not start with a pair of cheap turbo mufflers? Either Thrush Turbos or Flowtech Raptors or Summit's generic mufflers. They'd sound better than glasspacks and cost about the same (maybe even less)...?

Myself, I'd rather do it once and do it right. But if you just need something to get you by for the time being, then ... yeah. Turbo muffs.

I think you have a better chance of making it sound like a Ferrari than sounding like a 440 Mopar engine.

x-pipe to spintech (sportsmans if you drive on the street, pro streets if you want the 2-mile radius around your house to hear you move out of the driveway)

I would fix the body, and make the car solid first before worrying about exhaust. I learned with a 69 Camaro I had, that if you put a bunch of new parts, engine, etc. into a crusty car, that you end up with an expensive crusty car.

Not trying to sound harsh, just giving my experience. I like the Mach alot. My mother had one back in the day. It definitley deserves to be restored to factory.
