Opinions on MAC shorty unequal length headers?

Right now I've got BBK full length headers, but when I rolled my notch back in january, the headers got warped so right now there is a constant tapping sound and an exhaust leak, not to mention that the steering rack is hitting on the LT headers, and to get a Flaming river adjustable rack installed and aligned would be close to $700. So I've decided to do off with the LT's and go back to shorties.

I'm going to go with some MAC unequal length shorties, and going to switch back to my catted h-pipe instead of the o/r one i've been using... Part of the reason behind this is that when I first got my mustang back in July, it had shorty headers, and a catted h-pipe and it sounded mean as hell, now it seems to have lost alot of that sound (part of it maybe me just getting used to loud exhaust and part of it maybe the leak), so I'm hoping doing this switch will bring back that sweet familiar tone... Aside from that, does anyone have any opinions, bad or good, about the mentioned MAC 1 5/8" unequal shorties? I know I'm going to lose a bit of power, but it's about all I can afford right now to solve both problems. Thanks for any input.
 
I have had these on my car: www.stangnet.com/subzero for some time now and have not had a single problem. I too decided against long tubes for my daily driver and I like these. I had no fitting issues going in, and the industrial plating has held up very well. BTW MAC is revamping their exhaust line and is coming out with some nice stuff!! New catbacks for the Fox example will have 3" polished stainless steel adjustable tips :nice:
 
I had them on my 95GT and they were a pain to install. I had to pry or keep pressure on almost every tube to get the bolts in. Get some shorties w/ a flange instead of individual tubes...much easier to install. After discovering 2 bad motor mounts on my current 90 GT my BBK Equal lengths when on like a breeze, 100 times easier than the MAC's.
 
Alright, cool deal, thanks much for the replies. I'm paying about $160 for them I believe, from my local mustang shop, it'll end up bein' about $600 dollars total for them to install the new MAC headers, and install a used rack and pinion. Would of cost about $700 for just the flamin' river install and alignment, so I'm just glad I'm going to solve all my problems for cheaper.. Hopefully I wont lose too much power/sound.

shorties louder deff not................. different tone yes...............not a fan of mac exhaust due to it's high tolerance to warp. bbk's one peice flange is very nice but i also like JBA,bassani but since you on a budget bbk would be best.never heard a car louder than mine (full lengths,off road h,flow cat back)with the combo you want to go with. :hail2: :shrug:

Ya, thats exactly the setup I have right now, full lenth bbk's mac o/r h, and flow master 2 chambers w/ turndowns. Like I said, only reason I'm going back to shorties is due to the fact that I'm very low on cash... Not to mention some *****er broke in my car last night and stole my cd player/sub/amp right in front of my house, so I had to replace the window for now atleast... Thanks for all the input.

Think so? I thought it seemed like a half way decent price, $160 or so for the headers, $100 for a used rack, plus redoing my old catted h-pipe since it was setup for LT's. I dunno... Just really need to get the stuff fixed quick heh.
