What do you guys have to say about the kicker 12" L7? I've heard they are really great subs, but what about you? I'm really considering buying one and putting it in a box about 1.2 cu ft. Would it sound good with an 800rms@2ohm mtx amp? I'm looking for serious punch but that isnt incredibly expensive.

they are pretty good if you just want an a$$load of bass...I'm not a huge fan of kicker because they aren't as tight as most of the stuff that I like

If u just want pure bass, all spl and don't care too much for sound quality (it can be decent in the right box though), then yeah their good subs. If your more interested in sound quality then i would go with something else.

My personal belief............. You can make any driver sound good if you know what you are doing and get the proper alignment. For the money you'll spend on an L7, you can find many more drivers that will perform better IMO.

For a box that small, the Kicker is NOT the way to go. It'll sound like crusty ass. For a space that small, look into Adire, Elemental, CDT, or even Alpine and Infinity. There are many others, but the L7's just don't sound good in small boxes.

oh i didn't see the 1.2 cu ft box you mentioned, Don't put the kickers in that small of a box. They like very large boxes. How much $$ are you looking to spend on a sub?

well about 300 is all i want to spend for the sub. the box only cost me 50 dollars and for the time being, i think it'll put out plenty of bass. I'll probably move up to a ported box after awhile but for now i'm stickin with the one i've got on the way. its gonna be getting 800 rms so i'm pretty sure it'll hit harder than 3 10's getting like 175 apiece when their supposed to get 250. and the box they are in is probably about the same air space as the one i'm putting the kicker in.
