Opinions Please.....on my light grey leather Seat(1990 GT)

The padding is fine but there are "holes"in the leather in several of the panels(Drivers side)....The local apolstery shop whats $1100 to do both ....anyone have any ideas???Thanks in advance

Use a color match vynil...they wear better and look better over time and will save you likely 3-400 over the cost. Todays vynil products are leather lookalikes.

This is a synthetic material called Ultra Leather. It is virtually a new type of vinyl. Looks and feels like leather, but does not dry out or crack. Feels amazing. A few guys on here have felt it. FlavaDave has seen it in person and can tell you how soft it feels. It was pricey, but if you are going to pay for your sets to be done, why not do it the way you want it so you do not have to get them re-done in the future.

Ultraleather is actually a product designed for the boating industry. It is designed to be used in boats with the look and feel of a nice leather, but able to take the wear and tear of high traffic, and bad conditions. For anyone that has been in a newer boat and sat on the "leather" couch you have sat on Ultraleather. It sounds like it would be a an awesome alternative to vynil, and cheap Ford leather...

Personally I like leather, not vynil. I might be wierd but I can tell the difference, and even consider the wear (NOT cracks or rips) to add character. If taken care of right a leather seat will last many years and many many thousands of miles. I have 01 seats in my car, and they are basically perfect. They have the stretch marks ever so slightly from sitting in them, but other than that look brand new. Leather needs care (cleaning and conditioning) but will add to the cars looks and feel.

I actually plan to change my seats, or have them redone in a nice sofa leather I have seen. It should wear great, and feel nice as well!

I will say for $1100, grab some 03/04 Cobra seats or save some money and get some newer 94-04 GT seats in leather!

put them on your self it isnt hard at all the covers are prefabed so its not like youll be measuring and cutting, i put leather in a 67 rs ss and a bud of mine has done it to his fox, i am in no way an aphoulstry man (cant even spell it) and it was a peice of cake.

Glad you got it figured out, and post some pics when you get the kit and when its installed. I have never had or dont even believe I have seen these installed, and would love to!

What type of seats is my first question. Are they factory ford? If so what yr? Most factory leather isnt the highest quality. I happen to work for an Austrian leather manufactuer, and if you want some true automotive leather I can get it at cost. Which isnt cheap, but its better than retail. Id have to have something to try and match it too however as we dont make leather for ford, or any other domestic auto maker. We do supply Recaro, Mercedes, Porsche, Corvette America, Momo, and Lecarra steering wheels however. Just a few names you might recognize. Along with numerous domestic furniture makers. Car leather in most cases is hard until its broken in. Consider all the chemicals used to UV protect it. Saleen tried to buy from us several yrs ago for the S7, but lets just say his financial situation wasnt condusive to how we do business.

Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, but have you seen the summit racing seats from summit..at 180 a pc they look amaizing!!!!!!!
