Hey guys, i'm just curious about what drew you guys to the 94-95 5.0s as opposed to the earlier ones or the newer 4.6s. My boyfriends uncle is a car dealer and he got mine for me at an auction so it wasn't a choice for me, but a beautiful suprise none the less. i actually wanted a foxbody but they told me the insurance would be too much...my family forced me into getting a v6 and i was like ok i'll work my way up. they ran my car through the auction wrong, as a v6 (the average car dealer doesn't know jack about cars), and so i didn't know how lucky i was till the driver pulled the car up to the lot, needless to say i got a great deal...ANYWAY enough about me... i'm just wondering if you guys all wanted your cars exactly like what you have, or they fell into your lap, similar to mine...or monetary short comings provided them for you. i love my car and would not trade it for anything short of the new cobras(mmm supercharger..) anyway i was just curious and i would love to know other peoples stories and opinions.

i started off buying my moms 94 V6 from her. Then my dad got a canary yellow GT(94) and i bought that from him bc he wanted to buy himself an 03 cobra. He let it go for 6k plus the v6. he sold the v6, bought his cobra. i wrecked the yellow, went to buy a cobra but insurance raped me dry. so i bought my black gt that im in love with. i wouldnt say it "fell into my lap" but technically i settled. cobra insurance for me would be 4k a YEAR. as long as it has a 5.0 in it, ill love it like a child

i looked online for almost a year trying to find a 2000 GT, with dark leather, 5spd, black, low miles, good price, no motor mods, lots of simple body mods. Sure enough I found my sweetheart online (stangnet i think...) almost before giving up and settling for less. The bad part is I had to fly all the way to Iowa (middle of country) from NY with the flu to buy it, then pay 1000 to have it transported. ahhh, what we do for love

I always knew I wanted a 5.0, but the FOX styles just don't do it for me. Needless to say the 94-95 was perfect, the 5.0 HO motor plus the sexyness of the newer body style. Granted, the computer sucks more, but its worth it. I looked for a black on black 5spd V8 for 2 and a half months before I found one. Well worth it!

I used to have a 91 GT a few years ago That I loved, but living in Wisconsin I needed something to drive in the winter. I traded a guy that I knew the mustang for his truck. Too bad the guy crashed it into a tree about a month later. :damnit: After having a 5.0 before I knew I wanted another one, and since I already had a fox body before, I decided to try something new. Ended up with a good deal on a 95 GT that I found in Iowa. Gotta love that 302.

I've thought about this alot.... what would happen if I totalled my stang. I've come to the conclusion I would search high and low for another 94-95 GT or Cobra. This coming from a guy that used to hate Mustangs because everyone had one.

I picked mine up from my grandpa. I remember when he bought it brand new back in 94' and I loved it then. Unfortunately he had his license taken away from him and rather than sell it to just anyone he wanted to keep it in the family. So he sold it to me for $4,000 with less than 75K miles on it. I had always wanted a stang since my brother has a bad a** 89 lx with a 347 stroker and a six speed. So I knew a little bit about working on them and I knew how much potential lies in the 5.0 engine.

That's my only problem with being a mustang owner. my boyfriend makes fun of me at least once a day (he has a pretty rare car so he's all high and mighty) but i do feel that the 94-95 GTs have a special quality cuz you see older 5.0s a lot more(obviously because there were more made over the years) so i think we're unique in a way. i am however in the process of getting 5.0 badges for my car due to all the idiots who think that any mustang GT with the post '93 body style is a 4.6

I would rather have a Mustang anyday than a MR-2 even if mustangs are everywhere. He might as well have bought a mazda miata or a ford aspire. I dont care how fast it is, It will always look like a chick car to me.

I just wanted any mustang. At the time I thought the 94-98's were just about the same. I knew the 5.0 was better than the 4.6 but I didn't know how much better untill after I bought it and started looking at upgrades. I found mine at a bank(repo), and I fell in love as soon as I heard the exhaust . It had true-duals at the time, no cats, with stock mufflers. I used to drive it just so I could listen to the exhaust . I am gonna pull the 5.0 out and drop in a 351 this winter, funds permitting , but other than that I would only trade it for an 03/04 Cobra or possibly an 05 mustang.

My cousin has an MR2 turbo. The motor is currently locked up(bought off ebay with supposedly 32K on it), but it was really fast when it was running good. He had planned on building it up untill he bought an 89 Trans-Am GTA

I have respect for just about anything with 350 hp. But that car does not and will NEVER look like a ferrari. But that's just my opinion. I do know the ferrari you are refering to and I know that is the look they were going for when they designed the MR2. But it doesn't hold a candle to any ferrari IMO.

check out this site...maybe i'm an idiot but here it is

http://www.flack1.f9.co.uk/projectferrari/car.html

sorry if you don't agree, if you don't like his car that's fine, i'm not crazy about it either but you have to have respect because i KNOW it kicks my behind without trying and since all of our cars are comparable on here...well...you know

my bad, that site doesn't have a pic of the actual MR2, you can still see the similarities IMO but i'll keep looking and try to find a pic of the MR2 after the kit and stuff

lol one more edit...here's the actual MR2

Here is how I ended up with a 1995 GT:

I had a 2001 GT convertible that I loved dearly. One day I was driving to my son's soccer game and a 16 year old girl turned across traffic right in front of me and I slammed into her. The insuance company totaled the car and gave me $21,000 for it. At the time, I was in debt, so I bought a 1996 GT vert for $9,200 and put the rest towards paying off the debt. It was a good car. But as time went on, I found that performance parts were really expensive, much more expensive than similar parts for the 5.0. And labor seemed higher than similar labor on a 5.0. Also, the PI headswap would have cost like $3500. Even then, I would end up with maybe something a little faster than a 99+ GT.

So I decided to sell the 1996 and buy a 1995 vert. I found a black 1995 convertible for $7000 with a new top and a bunch of mods already done. I just sold the 1996 last week for $8000.

My plan is working out. The (ported stock) heads cost $600, the intake cost $400, pulleys $109. $3500 on a 5.0 will get a 5.0 a whole lot more horsepower than a 1996 with a headswap.

Im not trying to hate on your BF's car.....as i said i have seen some really nice MR2's which i appreciate. However I just had to open my mouth and be "that guy" when you compared an MR2 to a Ferarri.

Who cares about stinkin MR2's right now. This thread is about Mustangs.

5.0stangnette: I started looking for a car that I could work on since last January. Around June I decided to get a Mustang. Around July I decided to get a mid-90's Mustang. The 99+ were to expensive at the time, and I liked the SN-95 body better anyway. I had always heaerd and felt how potent the 5.0's were, especially with mods. So I started looking specifically for a 94-95. (although I would have bought a 96-98 too) I finally found mine in San Antonio this January for $6200 obo with 80k on the odometer. I drove down, test drove it, and had to have it. I payed $6k cash on the spot and drove it home. It's never let me down. Plus, it's so cheap and easy to work on. But I looked for around 6 months or so before I finally found mine. If I were to do it again, I would buy another 94-95 5.0, no discusion.
