Thanks for the input on custom cams. I am going to make some phone calls/e-mails this week to see what the response is. I'll post up what I get back, and hopefully, a decision!

Jay is a bit.....Arrogant but he does know his stuff, years ago there was a guy named Denny Wykopff he did absolutely the best custom cams made, I went with Jay after not finding Denny anywhere. The comp xe274hr is still an excellent grind, you may call Joe Sherman Joe Sherman Racing he can give you a semi custom grind from comp and he REALLY knows his stuff.

I understand the billet vs. SADI cam issue. My question is this...There is quite a price difference between a TFS 2 and the XE274HR. Is the material used better on the Comp or are you just paying for a name? or is a SADI a SADI?

Just wanted to check in with an update. I have finally talked to a builder that I feel very comfortable with. After our initial discussion we seemed to agree on MOST everything. He is recommending a custom cam and will set up the valvetrain to match. The only thing that he mentioned which I was not expecting was the choice of heads. I was thinking the TFS 190 FAC or AFR 185/205's and he recommended RHS or Dart cylinder heads, with about a 200cc runner. I am not as familiar with these and just wanted to do the sanity check with you all.

As far as off the shelf cams, the Anderson Ford Motorsport cams are pretty sweet. Might be worth a call.

any of the heads suggested will do just fine. as for the cam, a custom grind is best if it isnt much more than an off the shelf cam.

the cam isn't going to run much more than an ots cam and I don't mind spending the little extra money on something that important. I was just a little caught off guard by the Dart recommendations. I have not been able to find much info on these at all and have not seen many people run them on SBF's. I guess I'll see what he can do on price for these vs. the FAC 190's or AFR's. If it's much cheaper i guess i'll just go with Darts. If it's close in price, I may try to push for the TFS/AFR's. thanks for the feedback
