What is the optimal tire for a 17x9 on the front end? I'm going with 275's on the rear, but what is best for the front as far as handling? Wouldn't a 245 or 255 be better than a 275 because of less sidewall flex?

I've been searching around in the archives for the answer to this question, but all I see is everybody asking what is the biggest tire they can stuff onto a 17x9. While bigger is better on the rear, I don't think it works like that on the front, does it?

Thanks for any help!

on the front, i'd go with the smallest size that will fit & not look silly on the rim. i'd say 255 or maybe 265 max. that's what i'd run if i wasn't concerned about rotating em.

btw, i have 275's all around and it does cause some tracking probs.

Personally on my new GT, when it gets here, I'm going to do 275 all the way around with my 03 Cobra rims. I mean if it's good enough for the Cobra it's good enough for my GT! Plus I think it look pretty mean to have big fronts like that!

I would go 255 or 265 in the front at the most!

265 without a doubt... love mine! No rubbing at all and they grip like mad going fast thru corners.

I just went from 255 to 265 on a 9 inch wheel and it looks a lot better. The 255 was a little to skinny for the wheel.
