Im thinking of upgrading the brakes on our 01gt but not real sure what my options are. I was looking at the bullet calipers and braided lines but not real sure what the other options were?

The most popular brake upgrade for our cars are the cobra brakes. You will need cobra rotors, calipers and lines. Most calipers come with the pads already in place. You can also run the bullet calipers instead of the cobras.

I've been looking at this kit from Late Model Restoration:

seems like a good alternative to piecing it together with hard to find Cobra/Bullitt/Mach 1 parts

Cobra=bullitt brakes. I pieced my kit together recently and got mine for a better deal than lmr. If you want a one stop shop it's a great deal but being in Texas I would have taxes and shipping on it. I got the calipers from blue oval, rotors from rotor pro, front lines from blue oval and rear stainless from American muscle. I choose to upgrade the pads from rotor pros normal stuff to hawk. Only thing I would do differently than I did would be to paint the stock rear calipers and not get the rotors powder coated.
