This is my first post here, and I just wanted to start off with saying how great this forum is and how much of a help everyone has been already before I have ever posted anything. I am a senior in college and I graduate in December. That being said, my first purchase is going to be a new Mustang GT. My question for you all was, what options are worth it, and which aren't? The ones I was going to get are below but I wanted the opinions of the pros first :D , thanks a bunch in advance.

2007 Mustang GT Coupe Premium
-18" Polished Aluminum Wheels
-Interior Upgrade Package
-GT Appearance Package
-Comfort Group
-Front Seat Side-Mounted Air Bags
-3.55 Limited Slip Axle Ratio
-All Weather Floor Mats

Which options are worth it in my opinion? I say definitly get the interior upgrade package. The car dash looks naked without them, there are just three random buttons that are "fillers" if you go without it.

Tinted windows are a must, you can look at girls much easier this way.... Shoot, I mean it really helps with highlights in your rearview during night driving.

Whatever, go to the dealer and see what they have, that's the best way to taylor your car to your needs/wants.

Blbrchnk, welcome to our world!!!!! Are those the features you're looking at getting in your signature box? The only one I question is the GT Appearance Package. The reason is if you plan on changing the mufflers, don't spend the money on the package just for a hood scoop and plastic intake cover. You can get the intake cover for $70. If you LOVE the scoop, then perhaps you should get the package. It's all about personal taste and making your car your own. The interior upgrade is worth it just to play around and change your gauge color every so often!!!!! I love mine!!!!! I wish I could've gotten the comfort package in my '06...power seat for my Hunny beside me and heated seats(had them in a Passat and loved them). Good luck with your GT!!!!!

Good Choice - it's a mustang

Wheels are always personal taste. But that is one of the nice features of the order sheet. If you don't see a factory wheel that you like - there are many others out there. BTW, the suspension is recalibrated for the weight of the 18" rim/tire combo

Interior Upgrade Package

Definently. You get a full instrument cluster (not that the gauges do anything anymore) plus all of the shine from bright plastic pieces

This one is like the wheel comment I made... Totally personal choice here. You get the hood scoop, engine cover, and bright rolled exhaust tips. The engine cover IMO is the only thing I like on that list of features, but hey it is going to be your car.

Comfort Group

Duh! What's a modern car without seat heaters? You will love them if you don't have them already

Front Seat Side-Mounted Air Bags

This shouldn't even be on the options list. These should be standard... Your life isn't worth the $250.00 you would save by not having these on your car. ORDER THEM!

3.55 Limited Slip Axle Ratio

Totally depends again. What are your plans for the car? Driver or cruiser? Modded or stock? The 3.55's used to be standard on the 05-06 GT manuals... But you need to choose a path

All Weather Floor Mats

Does it snow where you live? If you answer yes to this question than get some husky liners from the aftermarket... They will offer more coverage and keep more water from entering the carpet.

Just my thoughts so they don't really mean anything. Oh and welcome to :SNSign:

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes kooldawg, the stuff listed underneath the underline is what I plan on getting, but it's not a signature, I just underlined it :) . Srothfuss, as far as weather here, it can be hit and miss, but we can have bad winters, I live in West Virginia. What do you mean exactly by liners? I am not the biggest car guy, but I am really hoping to start to get into it. I plan on getting the C&L CAI not too long after I get the car. But I wanna have it long enough to notice the difference when I get it. Thanks so much for the help though. Is there anything that I am leaving off that you guys recommend?

P.S. Oh, and I really do like the hood scoop, call me a sucker, it's just a shame it's not actually useful.

It's OK if you like the hood scoop... My Mustang will have the appearance box checked as well. :)

Here is a link to a online store that sells husky liners
http://www.autoanything.com/floor-mats/20A50193A1.aspx

Many other companies, including HUSKY liners, sell these style floor mats for the 05+ Mustang. They will be worth their weight in mud (spring), leaves (fall) and salt / water (winter)

Don't worry about how much you know... We are all here to learn about the Mustang and other cars.

I've read that the biggest difference in SOTP [seat of the pants] feeling is when you upload a tune from one of the major companies. Read through all the tech posts about them.... BIGCAT and other actually owners can help you better in that deparment than I.

I have the Ford all-weather rubber floormats and they do a descent job. I will say there are probably better rubber floormats out there. But I'll be honest.... I was a sucker for the Ford rubber mats because of the Pony logo that is molded into them! :)

btw, what part of West Virginia are you from?

I guess it comes down to what you plan on doing in the future. If your goal is to order 1 exactly how you want and leave it stock, then check off all the boxes that make you happy. Or you could look at it as your canvas to work with. If so, order only the IUP and look to the aftermarket for rims, hood scoops/hoods, full body kits, exhaust, and so on and so forth. The spoiler is another area that casues lots of debate on here. If you want to get an aftermarket spoiler of any kind (especially the ducktail), make sure you check off the spoiler delete box, otherwise you'll have the mounting holes to deal with.

Well I am from Bridgeport originally, but I currently live in Morgantown since I am a student at WVU.

Don't waste your money upgrading the rims. Go to mustangtuning.com and buy some real chrome bullitt rims if that's the look you're going for.

yeah i have thought about that but $800 dollars for the wheels and tires is a really good deal, since stock are 17 inch, getting 18" rims and tires would be a lot more, but I guess I could always just get the 17s. I dunno.

17" Bullitts are standard on the GT. There were no '06's in Vista Blue with the Fanblades on them already within 100 miles of me. I quickly upgraded to the 18" Fanblades(courtesy Tire Rack) a few weeks after getting my car.

I agree with Cbus, if you are ok with factory options alone, then by all means order it all upfront. If you have any doubts about what you want, don't upgrade tires/wheels or Appearance Package. Do get the Interior Upgrade Package, Comfort Group, Side Air Bags, Active Anti-Theft and 3.55 gears.

Then again part of the reason most of us get the Mustang is so that we can mod into our own work of art(good luck keeping it bone stock) The next question is...just how deep is your pocket?????

Well, I am an engineer and while I am getting married in March, my future wife is a nurse, so we make a good deal of money. Not to mention she loves mustangs, so I guess I will be able to do with it what I wish.

I agree with Kool, I have similar options minus the comfort group and airbags. I didn't order the GT appear. package, but I don't like the hood scoop all that much. I plan on getting after market exhaust and if I feel upset I might buy the intake cover too. I ended up buying floor mats somewhere else, but factory isn't that expensive. Even if it rains and you jump into your car having a water catcher is nice to keep the stuff off of your factory mats. I park in the garage whenever I end up getting up with shorts on and getting into the car then I am in winter clothes if I get into it outside when it's cold. I would have gotten all the options if money were no issue though. Seems like a good list, I also opted for the active anti-theft b/c I am used to it coming standard on most vehicles. The wheels are nice too, I never seem to have enough money to buy aftermarket wheels and the polished look nice on a dark car. Good luck.

edit: The sirius is nice if you can deal with the antennae location. 195 dollar option and I don't even notice it's there against the alloy paint just like the plastic mirrors.

At least until the little ones start to come along. Lots of pampered, low mile used sports cars end up on the market because they aren't car safety seat friendly.
Been there, done that....

Here's a noobie question, if I were to go with the stock 17" wheels at first and order some nicer 18" wheels and tires from mustangparts.com, do I need to do anything to the car to have it fit the bigger wheels? :rlaugh:
The 18"s will fit perfectly. I had no issues with mine whatsoever. The only difference is that if you get the 18"s to begin with Ford gives you better shocks/struts for the added weight...nothing aftermarket kits can't fix either and probably better. So order the options you can't live without and upgrade to what YOU want for everything else...no sense paying twice for something that will get replaced anyhow.
