Not sure about what you asked with the 02 sensor but you need to lengthen them (easy enough) and I have not had one go bad or had any issues with one yet!
You can do it yourself. Just solder the wires together instead of using crimp connectors so you get a nice resistance free connection. Make sure to use some shrink tube over the connections to keep moisture and dirt out of them also.
