Next week I'll be starting the ordering of my future combo.
It will consist of ......
Edelbrock Performer heads - 60379
and a Competition Cam's XE270HR - Duration @ .050" 218/224 | valve lift w/1.6 .512/.512 | LSA 114

Anybody have any suggestions or warnings for me? I won't actually be installing them for like a month or so.

I'll be getting the heads from summit @ $999. Got to love their pricematch system.

Should I bother with upgraded rockers? Would some upgraded 1.6's help me any? Performance or reliability?

Should I maybe go witha more aggresive cam, since I have a TwEECer R/T?
Either way I'll be ordering the heads to start with and will work on the other goodness later.

I think that sounds like a good combo. That cam should work well with these cars. The 114 lobe sep. is very close to stock, and 94-95s like that. I would throw on a good set of 1.6 roller rockers like you said.

Rel, you can keep the stock valve covers if you use the Comp Cams rockers, or the Crane/Cobra 1.7's...I run the FRPP 1.7's (which are pretty big) with stock GT valve covers and just had to very slightly grind the very corners off of the four corner rocker arms...

BTW, that sounds like a nice choice of parts. I've been a fan of the Edelbrock heads for a while.

Yeah, I know about re-using the stockers, but I figure I might as well do it now and just forget about it. This way I'll be able to re-paint the new ones and get 'em ready prior to the teardown.

Sounds like a good combo. That cam sure has a lotta lift for 1.6's. I'd definitely get some aftermarket rockers though.
That's a damn good price on those heads.

You dont have to run a 114 lobe sep becuase you have a tweecer to help with the computer with the cam. I ran edelbrock heads a while back that were ported stage 2 by bennet, ported performer intake and what bennet called a custom grind cam had the exact same specs of the lunati 51014 cam but it had a 4 degree advance ground in and the car went 12.20s.

http://www.tweecer.com/

Its a great tuner.. requires a laptop with a usb port to use. The PMS is a great tuner also that doesnt need a laptop as it comes with a hand held setup they just refined here recently.

Those heads are only a $999? That is a great price, I may just have to give Summit a call.
