Hey guys, I'm picking up autometer phantom oil pressure and water temp gauges. I also need a 3rd gauge to fill in the last hole on the pillar. I was probably going to get a trans temp gauge but I was wondering if I need anything else to install this gauge? Do I need to tap the pan for the trans fluid to install the sender or is there a prexisting place to install it?

For the oil and water ones, is there a place to put the sender? I heard that there is an extra spot already for the oil pressure sender but I will have to T into the one for the water temp sender to keep the factory gauge working. What size T do I need and where do I get them? I'm a newbie with cars and this will be my first time hooking up gauges. Thanks!

I just did oil and water this weekend. Oil was easy, water was a little more complicated.

There is an extra spot for the oil pressure sender. It's just below the stock sensor. Remove the plug, let some oil drain out from the filter (less than one cup total) and install the oil sender using teflon tape on the threads. Route the wire and you are done.

For the water sender I removed the thermostat and had some material welded to the thermostat housing (aluminum). Then I drilled and tapped it for a 1/8NPT fitting and installed the sender. Cost about $25 for the welding. I have heard that you should not use a T-fitting with the stock sender because you will get crappy readings (air bubbles in the system) and the cars CPU will mess up making you run too rich. That's why I decided to get it welded.

I don't know about the tranny gage.

If you want some pics, send me a PM with your email address and I will send them to you in a day or two.
