Well its an easy one. Im getting new lifters to replace my stock 106,000 mile ones. Im looking at the FMS lifters for like $115 or the Crane Lifters that are a little more i dont remember how much though. So what do you guys think is a better one to go with?? Thanks guys

I'm just putting the finishing touches on my HCI swap. I replaced my lifters with the FRPP lifters. I don't think you need to upgrade unless you're building a high-revver. What heads and cam are you going with?

New lifters won't hurt, especially when you're already that much into the engine money-wise, whats another $110? Whats your combo?

GTjake, I sent you an email earlier, check your email :D

well, I bought the comp cams hydraulic lifters, talk about a waste of money! the clearances on the lifters have more slack than stock! talk about a joke! so I'd go with crane if you're going aftermarket. personally, if you are going with and H/C/I, don't short yourself on valvetrain parts, get the best you can afford.

It's a good thing I have a set of comp hi tech solid rollers, man those things are super nice!

I had 65,000 miles on my car when I did H/C/I. I asked Ed Curtis when I was talking to him on the phone about new lifter since if he said yes, I would've ordred them from him as well along with all the other crap I was buying from him. Point is, he had reason to tell me to buy them from him. Anyways...his response was:

"Don't waste your money...stock lifters are fine".

Now...I dont' know how another 40,000mi. would've changed his opinion, but I just wanted to share that. BTW...if he had disposable money...I would've bought them, but another $100 just wasn't in my favorable budget.

Ed Curtis told me to go with new lifters, and he suggested the FMS version. Alot of guys in the NMRA are using FMS lifters.

Obviously...you have 163,000 miles.

With WhiteDevil's mileage, it is kindof a preference. Good idea to get them, but not really needed like they were in your case. If he has the money, do it.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Well like a few of the other guys said while im in there and spending money on these other parts im gonna throw on some new lifers. It looks like ill go with the FRPP lifters to replace mine.

Also my combo is

Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold (possibly ported lower, GTJAKE u think its work it?)

Edelbrock Performer Improved Heads 1.90 and 1.60

And Crane 2031 Cam with my Crane 1.7rr

couldnt get the FTI cam my summer hours got slashed so my budget took a dump but we will see what the future brings.

Tom does great work. If your comfortable cleaning up the casting flash with a dremel than do that. The Performer intake should match up to the heads pretty nicely with a slight clean up. Depends on if it's worth it to you? I don't regret doing mine.
