Original Orange Undercoating

Can anyone tell me about the orange undercoating I see on 65-66 Mustangs? Like, do they still make it and is it worth doing, or is the black rubberized more durable.

I'd like to redo my undercoating as mine was poorly applied by the last owner, and the orange looks pretty cool. Currently mine is black ruberized undercoating, and I'd like to take it back to the original look.

Its just ordinary red oxide primer... you can get it anywhere.

I spent 2 1/2 weeks with my '66 on jackstands and me on my back with a sandblaster cleaning the bottom of my car. I washed it and primed it (I used self etching on the bare metal), but didn't like the original look. I ended up painting it satin black. Black rubberized undercoating would be more durable and would deaden some of the road noise. Its your choice, but before you can apply the primer, you'll need to strip all that undercoating off, else it will just peal & flake off.

If you are going to the trouble of stripping the entire underbody, woundnt POR15 on the bare metal be a good investment? After all you could always coat that with whatever you want for an original or custom look or a por15 chasis topcoat

por-15 would be better. also if you want a colored undercoat, have the undercarrage shot with rhino liner. it can be custom colored and would be more durable and lighter than normal undercoating.
