I tried to PM you but all I got was "Killercanary has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space."

Hey Paul my name is Mike. I've got a bunch of q's about your car. First, I see that you have a stock shortblock with the AFR/FTI/Performer combo. Your car weighs close to 3700lbs, and you have 4.10 gears with 31 spline axles and diff. How is it that you can run 12.33@110mph with Nitto DRs, when most guys (not all of you) with that combo can barley get 12.9?
Is it driving skill?
Is it the fact that your custom cam is set differently than everyone else? What's your secret?

The whole reason I'm asking is I am looking into the AFR/FTI/Performer combo or the Trickflow stuff. Now MOST with one of these combos seem to be running around the same times BUT YOU!!! You just have MOST blown away.

Thanks for your time.

I have NO secrets, just lots of time with the car. Everytime I have ever ran a new best, I have made a post here as to how it was done. I have had my combo the longest of all the AFR/FTI/E-brock users here, and I have constantly tweaked here and there and tried MANY things to get where I'm at, and Ed has been there to help in anyway he could the entire time, that's one of the greatest things about him. So far my best as driven street pass at FULL weight (>3700lbs) has been a 12.5 at 109 with a 1.8 60' on my everyday 315-35-17 drag radials. I gave up after that one run and immediately through the shortbelt on and ran the 12.33 at 110, but my 60' was a 1.66 on my nittos. I know I could have gotten at least a 12.4 IN AS DRIVEN form had I made a few more passes before throwing on the shortbelt because my 60's dropped all day long, but I was so excited I ran a 12.5 on them that I had to see just how deep into the 12's I could get on my nittos. I know many of the guys on here with a little more wheel time will be right with me as well they should. Most of the newer AFR/FTI combos on here have me beat in terms of power AND weight. Give them some time to learn just what the car likes and you'll see more low 12 second cars. It didn't happen for me overnight as I've had this combo since the early spring of 2001. My first pass with my current combo only netted a 13.6 at 103mph, but many of them are already at 108-110mph... it took me nearly two years to reach those speeds. My combo was setup to be a daily driven, low 13 second at 105mph car... that is all I wanted and what Ed set it up to run. I truely wish people could drive my car. I can nail it at 1100rpms and the thing just starts pulling with NO hickups etc that 99% of the H/C/I cars would do. I still manage 20mpg on the highway despite my heavy weight and 4.10's. My combo is FAR from exotic or on the "racier" side of things. Its just a well matched and thought out combo. I research the crap out of everything I do to the car before I do it as this hobby is too expensive to make mistakes and mismatch parts. I looked for heads for almost 2 years before deciding on AFR's. I know there is more in my car, and I hope to show that before the snow flys this year. For as simple of a combo I have... I truely don't know how it runs what it does, I sure as heck NEVER thought it'd run what it does. I can't help but wonder what it'd run just being powershifted, as that is something I don't do. I lift off the throttle on every shift, and everyone that has seen me run always tells me that they doubted me on it, until they see me do it. One thing remains certain, I will not stop until I know the car has nothing left to give, and I'm not there yet!!! :nice:

I know... everytime I go to the dyno, I expect 300... well after about 13 total dyno pulls on two seperate occasions trying all sorts of things with the eec tuner... 293/327 is all she'll do. All of my buddies us the same dyno and all of their numbers seem right on. I hope to redyno before the season is out to try a few things, maybe things will be different?!?!
