Hey, i just recently had some AFR 165 heads installed, as well as GT 40 upper and lower intake. Also added 24 lb injectors and 76mm meter. The car runs fine but while im in traffic, i start to heat up...waay up. What could be the problem? i took out the new thermostat, to check if it was a possible dud, but it still heats up. This only hapens in stop and go traffic though. IT also doesnt cool back down once i get going. I checked my fan, and it seems fine. Any suggestions while i wait to hear back from my mechanic? thanks.

Sounds like your fan can't pull enough air through the radiator. You might have to upgrade to an electric fan or possibly a new fan clutch if its the original. Water holds heat very well so once you get it to a high enough point that your cooling system can't compensate, it will take a while for it to get back to a reasonable temp. How old is your radiator? You can get it cleaned out but it might be time to get a new/better one too.

THanks for the reply. Yes, the radiator and Fan clutch assembly are orginal. The radiator always worked fine before, and i have flushed it thoroughly. As for the fan, the actual fan is newer but the clutch is original.... SO if i do get a new radiator/fan, this should keep it cool? any recomandations on both the fan and radiator? thanks again.

GOOD news... kinda... The main problem was my timing. IT some how retarded waaay down. so we set the timing to 10*. That should be fine for now. We also checked the radiator, and it was clogged. So i picked up a new aluminum radiator. that should do the trick. Thanks for the help guys. ill post before/after pics when i get my radiator sawpped. :flag:
