I have a few quetions about the 4.6 intakes-

How does the Aftermarket intakes Flow over Stock ?

swaping intakes do you lose the low end torque or HP /?

It seem like stock 4.6 intakes have Small short runners.. where the aftermarket are much bigger [box type uppers]

more air Volume always better !!??!

thanks-

just a 5.0 guy so far :lock:

I'm kinda new to mod motors myself. The SVO intakes are a little better to much better than stock depending on your combination.

There are only 2 after market non-Ford intakes currently that I know of. The P51 and Richhart Racinf. Both are for race applications mostly. They are of the kind of "box type - short runener" design.

I've seen NO flow numbers for any of them.

Stock 4.6 intakes have long runner manifolds just like the ol' 5.0 does.

More air volume is not always better.

What is the SVO, Bullitt, Reichard, and P-51?

SVO and the Bullitt are rip offs and also you cant just go buy on and bolt it on. They also arent that great for N/A but make a nice torque improvement. The p-51 isnt finished yet. The RR isnt made for a low revving motor. They are high RPM intakes.

yea, most i seem looked more for Race applications. Seen few custom Steel metal intakes for 4.6... blower cars

Would the Cartech Box Upper Intake for 5.0 .. if it was for 4.6 would it work good with small mod motor.. [ported heads, gears, exhaust.]

The P-51 is intended to be an intake that doesn't sacrafice low. As far as powerband is concerned it is more of a Bullitt style intake than the Reichard style. Te P-51 shoudl be fine on an n/a Mustang.

The Bullitt and especially the SVO intakes are expensive but they aren't worthless on an n/a motor as most people think. They without a doubt outperform any of the plenums. Some guys have picked up 2 tenths and 2 mph with the Bullitt intake on n/a motors with no other changes. They don't give big peak gains on an n/a engine but they do make a difference, at certain points above and below the peak they gain 15-20 rwhp over the stock intake.
